(6,974 posts)And was considering leaving his district, and although he seemed unhappy in the interviews I'd seen him giving the past few months, I didn't think he'd leave.
The rumors were TRUE. Something 'appears' to be going on in Texas

(45,433 posts)I hope it's a blue wave across Texas and some other new states for us.
Hurd is also one of the few GOP against the wall, and his district is on the border.

(4,533 posts)For some reason flights were grounded in Texas so he and Beto could not get back to DC on time for something. So they drove, with Beto live streaming much of it. Beto and Hurd had long very thoughtful discussions about certain policies. Hurd is not your normal Republican. He has sound reasons for his views. The two together honestly discussing issues made me proud of them both. It reminded me of a Donahue show where Bill Clinton and Jerry Brown, running for President, sat together alone, no moderator, for one hour debating their different positions. Until then I had no respect for Brown. Boy was I wrong. I always knew Clinton was a genius but to my extreme surprise so is Jerry Brown. Together they got wonderfully wonky and free of spin. It was the greatest political discussion I have ever seen.
