4. Actually, both problems yield to some fairly simple solutions

The problem, though, is that folks like Sen. Cornyn don't want to do it. They'd rather spend $2 billion a day on the military and keep people in grinding, abject poverty because his cruel political philosophy is more concerned about Free Stuff for the Wrong People than it is about their beloved cruelty.

... How Cornyn survived so long in politics without a brain or a modicum of ethics?

10. They are in fact 2 complex problems that lack simple solutions, he's not wrong on that ...

Solving homelessness is not as simple as many like to think, the old 'we just need to throw money at it'. We could HELP with the problem via money, sure. Solve it? Doubtful. Fact of the matter is, a lot of the homeless are mentally-ill and/or long-term substance abusers with no practical means of supporting themselves. NOT ALL of COURSE ... but many.

And hell, liberal San Francisco has major problems trying to build just SHELTERS for homeless people, let alone actually making them non-homeless. People don't want them around.

Similarly, gun control regs are only going to do so much. There's already 270M or some such guns in the USA. Curtailing who guns are sold to under legal auspices is only going to go so far.

I'm not suggesting we don't TRY, but I do understand the point that these are both complex societal problems that don't necessarily lend themselves to simple solutions.

Still, F*** Cornyn ... he's way wrong on all sorts of other shit.

And, in fact, his TIMING on this comment is definitely for shit. In a week or two it wouldn't be that inflammatory, but today? It's pretty fucked up.

11. Why did he even chime in with this BS?

Is that his number one concern right now? Making sure nobody focuses on gun safety laws? That’s what he’s thinking of right now?

Contemptible.

the Senator just got his updated Talking Points from his PR person.

Yah right, notice how the Racist Red Don's attack on Homeless persons got wrapped into his statement and the usual mush mouth complex issues . Two of his Favorite Presidents well used false narratives.

15. How can he equate homeless people with mass killers?

Both have relatively easy solutions:

Give the homeless a place to live so they can start to rebuild their lives. Provide mental health support, training and services to help them be successful.

Get rid of guns. Almost no one has a reason to own a gun, let alone a weapon of war. Buy them back. Limit sales to péople with a specific need maybe like hunters, ranchers, bodyguards, competition shooters, collectors. Everyone else who wants to shoot can go to a gun range, an arcade, or buy a video game.
