A 2-year-old who survived the mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart is recovering from broken bones after his 25-year-old mother, who was fatally shot, used her body to shield him and save his life.

Hundreds of mothers surged to the White House with other protesters Saturday evening to demand stricter gun control laws in the wake of the horrific mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, that killed at least 20 people.

The powerful, spontaneous “Moms Demand Action” demonstration was one of a series of heartfelt expressions of support and sympathy throughout the nation for the victims of the shootings at a Walmart, in which at least 26 people were injured.

Mothers hoisted signs reading “Coward Congress” and chanted: “Whose house? Our house!”

A representative of the group told The Washington Post that members were meeting nearby for a conference. When the women learned of the massacre, “the tenor and tone of the whole room changed” and participants decided to march, said one of the group’s leaders, Amber Gustafson.

1. Does it matter?

If you support them and their causes, why wouldn't anyone want to get involved? Even if someone isn't a mom, they still had one, and most of their friends and family are probably moms.

I've never had breast cancer, but I used to participate in the walks because I support women and the search for a cure... You see where this is going?

4. I don't think she was trying to "make it an issue," but rather trying to make sure

that people were aware that anyone could join. Some people might have thought that an organization called Moms Action Network was only for moms. I took the tweet to mean that she was trying to get the word out that all were welcome.
