(44,576 posts)Speaking of Lewinsky, she just signed on to Ryan Murphy's new project, "Impeachment: American Crime Story." She'll be a producer on the series. Beanie Feldstein -- Jonah Hill's sister -- is going to play Monica.
Cut the comedy, TMZ -- you know perfectly well that the reporter was referring to Pence being hypocritical in not "telling" President Twitter Tantrum that HE'S the one spending too much time on the Internet; and that Lewinsky was referring to being "unqualified" to sit in judgement of presidential misbehavior -- making the story a stealth ad for "Impeachment: American Crime Story."

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. Ryan Murphys popular television series American Crime Story will return for a third season that will tackle the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky scandal, FX announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Lewinsky will be a producer of the new season, which will be titled Impeachment: American Crime Story.
Murphy had teased the idea of a Monica Lewinsky-themed season, and last year he told The Hollywood Reporter that he would only do it with Lewinskys participation.
We're trying to remove trump but we'll be getting "whataboutisms" and "both sides" crap in the media.

(41,960 posts)I dont guess I have a right to tell her how to make her living but it doesnt strike me as the kind of thing that does anything but keep her in the exact same rather small spot shes inhabited since she was part of it. If there was any kind of Heres my wonderful life in spite of a terrible thing and Im proud to have used it to do these things Id feel differently, but I dont think this is anything like that. She seems frozen there. Maybe her only way of coping but the show feels creepy nonetheless.

(31,011 posts)She's not a perfect person, but when I think about the types of people they could bring in that could make this potentially ten times worse I feel nauseated. How she was treated by the public and the media back then was truly horrific.
I hate the prospect of this getting dragged back out again, but unfortunately it's a part of our history. If the story is going to be told, let's cross our fingers and hope they do it right.
Besides, it's one's choice to watch it or not.

(41,960 posts)What I saw didnt give me hope. Yes, it could be done in a smart, non-prurient way. But I dont get that feel. Could be wrong. Those things can go so badly.
No, I wont watch.

(4,544 posts)I like that he said he wouldn't touch the story without her input. That's fair. And respectful of her, IMO.
(The rest of this isn't aimed at you, cynatnite, just at everyone in general.)
Before judging this project in a negative light, look at the shows Ryan Murphy does. If you don't know who he is, Google him or look him up on IMDb. His shows are definitely not run of the mill fare. Most (not all) are very good, and they often win Golden Globes and Emmys. This won't be some shoddy production. I'm thinking it will have a kick to it, a twist, and it sure as hell won't be geared toward anything Trumpian.
The Ryan Murphy show I'm watching right now is called Pose. It's about the transgender ballroom scene in New York in the 80s, and right now, the show is dealing with the height of the AIDS crisis. The actors aren't straight people pretending to be LBGTQ. They're real. And it's nominated for Emmys this fall.
My point is that I could think of a whole lot worse people than Ryan Murphy to be putting this together. It could actually be very good. At worst, it might be tacky, but what it won't be is heaven for right-wingers. Knowing all of this, I choose to withhold judgment until I see what he has in mind.

(39,343 posts)What better way to negate that than to show how both sides are exactly the same (sarcastic font) and that trump wasn't even this bad, see he didnt even get impeached.

(30,811 posts)something that is compared to child rape. Very sick of it. Monica was a victim of a treacherous friend and horrific predatory publicity, but she was not a victim of a crime.
She needs to move on with her life.

(261 posts)that this will be aired just before 2020 election. That feels very strange to me. Are they really just going after ratings or is there more to it?
