I'm feeling a shift

It's subtle but I definitely feel a difference in coverage and reaction to Trump's behavior in the past couple of weeks.

Starting with Mueller's testimony two weeks ago (can you believe it was just two weeks ago?), followed by Trump's increasingly blatantly racist comments, the tragic shootings, yesterday's farce of his visits to Dayton and El Paso, and complete silence, ducking and defections by Republicans, it's clear that Trump is no longer being given the benefit of the doubt by the media and public and he's now being treated like the dangerous pariah he is.

This week, for the first time in a long while, I'm starting to feel like he may not survive this politically.

Even people who sit in his audiences have feelings for victims and some will see that the Trump reaction is just wrong.

...was about how he was thinking about giving a pardon or release to Blagovich, the former Governor of Illinois, convicted of trying to sell the seat of former Senator, Barack Obama...

will help him with Democratic voters?

Or, is it doing it because Blago was on The Apprentice before?

I've noticed that all the thunder is gone from the few Trumpers I know. I don't hang out with them anymore, I kicked them to the curb, but I do check on their FB feeds now and again to monitor what they're thinking, and there has been nothing but dead silence for quite some time now. I know one guy who's a huge gun nut and ammosexual who, in the past, every time there has been a mass shooting and call for gun control, has posted the usual crap about how any effort to take their guns will be met with the most deadly force. Nothing but dead silence from him this time. But actually, nothing but dead silence from him for awhile.

They are running out of steam. Which really only confirms what I've always believed about them. They talk tough, but when things start to get really hard for them, they fold pretty easily. Which is why I've never bought all the crap about civil war. If there is a civil war in America, we're living through it now. It will be more incidents of terrorism and other flash points, but it will never be an all out war. There's just no way to really fight an old school war in modern day America anymore.

"soft targets." I don't think most of them are willing to face anyone ready to really right back.

Not that I want him pardoned, but he's served about 6 or 7 years in prison and his career is ruined in any case. If Chump does pardon him, it would do more damage to Chump than anything else.

but I did not realize it until I caught myself saying, "Trump is in trouble." Then I really thought about it, the feeling had crept up on me without actually thinking about it.

My "friends" on Facebook who are rabid Trumpers are and always will be with him or anyone else who spouts hatred for "others". Old fans of Alan West etc. They remain terrified of "others" gaining the majority and still think they can hold it all back, including a "socialist" takeover with their guns. These people are friends for one reason only and I keep them at arms length, they live nowhere near me thankfully. They are not all racists but would likely fall that way under the right circumstances.

I have always felt that the rest of his support was pretty soft. Anti Hillary, wanting something different, the fantasy thought that a real business man could be the trick along with the fantasy that Trump was that real business man. A little fear of the unknown as the country changes and they just thought, "What the heck, how bad could it be?" I do not think these people thought GWB was bad so their reference was tilted this way anyway.

Those soft supporters have varying degrees of everything the RW holds dear but they are also people who care about others, just may be afraid of some of those others but not ready to send them away or shoot them or even legislate against them. They feel the hate and confusion and total disruptions in their lives and they are placing it where it belongs, with Trump.

If we get anything close to an honest counting of the votes I think we win and I think it might surprise us by how much.

This could also be a big old lib dream but I live in the country in Kansas and the only MAGA hat I have seen was from on city guy, a wealthy Doctor I know and at that in this entire time I have only seen this one. A few bumper stickers and a tee shirt now and again and that is all. Trump got a crowd when he came but it was not all that from what I could tell. Mostly a bunch of yahoos trying to create something that was hard to come by, love for this giant nothing of a man.
