Trump criticized for ‘patronizing’ praise of hero in El Paso shooting: ‘You could be a movie star the way you look’

President Trump’s compliment — “You could be a movie star, the way you look” — to an Army soldier who saved children during the El Paso shooting, wasn’t universally flattering.

On Wednesday, the president and first lady Melania Trump flew to Dayton, Ohio where 9 people were shot and killed Sunday, and El Paso, Texas where 22 died after a gunman’s spree at Walmart, to congratulate first responders.

Fort Bliss U.S. Army specialist Glendon Oakley, who scooped up as many children as he could carry during the gunfire, met Trump.

I thought Oakley was thinking "Eat shit and die".

Also, the woman in the middle was on camera a lot and she looked at the floor the whole time. You could tell she did not want to be there.

clearly DID not and looking down was the most professional thing she could do, i guess.

That heroic man deserved so much better. But he was sending Trump a mental "truth package" that's for sure.

"Well he looks like a judge should look." It's also how he picks out hookers: "You remind me of my daughter Ivanka."

In his mind he's still in a reality tv show, choosing actors for parts. He thinks he is acting like a president.

Christ on a trailer hitch, if that man were any shallower...

Trump judges most people by how they look, especially females, which often shapes his playground-level taunts of any opposition or those who fail to be fawning submissives. And the expression of Glendon speaks volumes...

Character, abilities and actions, not so much.

He's wearing PFC insignia, not that of a specialist. Not that it really matters, I guess, but they should have gotten his rank correct.
