How impeachment would help the Republicans?

If impeachment were to happen before the end of the year, it would give the Republicans time to choose a running mate for Mike Pence? It would also give them time to make a "deal" with Donald Trump. He will not go quietly into the night. But, it will take a little time.

But, if impeachment happens closer to Election Day, they will not have time to re-group and gather their forces. The people will decide whether or not they want to impeach Donald Trump? Do the Republicans really want that to happen?

So, in my honest opinion, the sooner the impeachment happens, the better it is for Republicans. It will give them more time to fix their Party, but it will not relieve them of the burden of defending the crimes and misdemeanors of Donald Trump. They will carry that right up to Election Day.

Gerald Nadler will decide if he wants to send Articles of Impeachment to the full House for a vote. He will have to know beforehand that he has the votes in the House to pass it on to the Senate, or he would just be tilting at windmills.

Those undecided Democrats need to take a stand. Do they want to impeach now or closer to Election Day? Do they want to do their job and protect our Constitution or do they wish to continue exercising politics? Nadler needs to knows he has the Democrats on his side before he sends official Articles of Impeachment to the floor for a vote.

However, the Republicans will not see the benefit of impeachment. They will vote to not convict in the Senate. Donald Trump, at the rate he is moving, will be a very heavy load for them to carry by Election Day, in my humble opinion. It may be a decision they will forever regret?

Could be perfect timing, to make the GOP sweat during primary season; might even embolden Kasich or others to run in the primaries. Pelosi could drag out debates on the articles, with a floor vote timed for maximum damaging impact- just before the GOP convention? Or October just before the election?

Either way, it won't matter what Moscow Mitch does or doesn't do- he will be an impeached president standing for re-election, a first in the nation's history that will gain maximum media attention- even Fox couldn't ignore it. In some ways, I think it would be better if Mr. Muscovite refuses to proceed to trial in the senate, as then there would be no way to claim "total exoneration!", and he would still be impeached...imagine the debates...I bet there would be a third party challenger from the right (assuming the GOP doesn't dump Trump) that would seal his doom...

Looking forward to the exciting, if bumpy, ride ahead!

There is more to be gathered but it will be blocked at every turn.

pushed for impeachment first.

And then convicted him in the Senate.
In plenty of time before the elections.
