My car, shifting to D it goes forward, shifting to R it goes backwards. Just like politics.

My car is telling me how to vote. i like going forward.

This is a clip from former Michigan governor, Jennifer Granholm. She electrified the 2012 Democratic National Convention with this speech. She used the same analogy as you, pwb.
