MoveOn.org and phishing??

So I get this text on my personal phone from "Rick" who says he is a volunteer from MoveOn.org. He needs my help to defeat tRump and elect leaders who will help minorities..
Ok sounds all well and good. Then the text says to "Reply YES to MoveOn's number 668366"
to receive periodic texts and information on Democratic information.. Ok.... ah......no
Sounds like phishing to me..
I did text him back asking how did he get my number. His reply was he was using an "app" that did not show my number and then pivoted to another statement about sending information...
I call bullshit. I ask him again in a different way and I get the same canned response...Word for word..
Anybody else get this type of text???
Im also getting lots of phone calls about my SS# being compromised. Obvious spoofed phone numbers with the same recording..... Even one from Vietnam!!!
Be careful out there...

..it was a simple canned text message, NOT asking for $ or anything.. just a reminder to vote. The app didnt distinguish between Ds and Rs and we werent to let on our political leaning. But WOW I can tell you the ones who were most livid about demanding HOW we got their number, why we were calling and to basically fuck off... were from the Rs. We NEVER saw their number at all or who we were texting other than a first name. I finally quit volunteering there because of the abuse.

4. The org is good, I think. But I've had e-mail problems with some of their e-actions.

Click on a link and it overloads iexplorer.exe to over 90% of the computer capacity.

A rider on their e-mails, maybe. The sender definitely is moveon.org.
