(58,785 posts)and his teachings so he's no longer liberal, but that he actually taught the need for expressing love and teaching God's will through all these actions.
I saw it when I asked a pair of neighbor women curiously and very courteously how something fit Jesus's teachings (they brought the subject up by invoking his name). What I got in return was an ostentatiously smug exchange of smiles and glances between two, indicating that my very question meant I would not be able to understand Jesus's moral teachings even if they tried to explain. Which they didn't.
Of course they couldn't. BUT, they knew they're right and so was Jesus "right."
Great sign anyway for all those who haven't corrupted a lifetime of religious belief to further political passions.

(6,697 posts)Basically, before his death, mankind needed to be the light in the world. Now that Jesus is risen, if we put enough faith in him, and claim victory, then we'll be skinny, rich and healthy. Anyone in need is seen as not faithful enough.
Joel Osteen is the perfect example of who that sort worship.
Trump is ostentatiously wealthy. They think that means he's anointed by Jesus.

(58,785 posts)conservative beliefs (old as in included in virtually every old religion) about how the worthy are rewarded and the unworthy punished. That's very interesting, Kentucky. Thanks.
Of course there's real truth that behaviors tend to benefit or hurt depending, but a sensible observation of general causes and effects has been developed into the very un-sensible and immoral political ideology you describe that insists progressive government leads to spiritual and national degradation.
Add in God's grace, and you have the anointed among us. All courtesy of corruption of beliefs by anti-government/anti-taxation interests allied with corrupt religious leaders over decades, of course.
I'm going to look up victory teaching.

(2,187 posts)NO ONE makes money off a Trump decision without the Trumps profiting, too. That is well known.
I hope a journalist like Ronan Farrow is looking into exactly who's profiting now from them. They'd win a Pulitzer.
