Stealth Trump -- take public lands out of Americans' hands
The Trump administration has just put an anti-environmental extremist, who has long argued that America's public lands should not be in public hands, in charge of managing 248 million acres of public domain.
William Perry Pendley has sued the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in his previous job as president of the Mountain States Legal Foundation. He has gone to court against creation of national monuments on BLM land.
"Founding Fathers intended all lands owned by the federal government to be sold," he wrote three years ago in the National Review.
Pendley will serve as "acting" director of BLM, which means his name will not be sent to the U.S. Senate for confirmation. The western affiliates of the National Wildlife Federation, in a letter last week, urged the Senate to do something about this.
"This antipathy for public lands and outward hostility toward public servants to manage them must not be a belief held by someone in charge of the agency," they argued.

The founding fathers also intended for only white land owning protestant males to vote. Nothing sacrosanct about original intent.
