(2,440 posts)The signs are nice, but not reflective of central, Wi. I would be shocked to see them in Central or Northern Wisconsin.

(6,181 posts)In particular in Ashland and Bayfield Counties.
In fact, I would cite the fact that our current congress member from the WI-07 Rep Sean Duffy avoids public town halls in this region.
If he does hold one it's a last-minute scheduled meeting in an (R) safe location. Sadly the Veterans groups are one of his favorite safe places. Not all Veterans are (R).
Duffy was born and raised 60 mile SW of the Chequamegon Bay Area (Ashland/Bayfield counties).
He was the DA in Ashland County and he and his family lived in Ashland WI.
When elected to the House. They moved to the Wausau WI. Leaving Ashland and the region far behind for an (R) region in his heavily gerrymandered district.

(2,440 posts)Ashland and Bayfield are primarily tourist areas and are not indicative of central Wi. Why not be honest and say wow look at Madisons cool signs. The Democratic candidates do not come to rural and central Wi. Trump does. It was a huge problem in 2016. It isnt changing. We have isolated pockets of Dems in central, WI (portage county), otherwise every central county is solid red.

(2,440 posts)However, the Waupaca veterans home in King vote 100% for Walker. Republicans work that facility , Democratic candidates dont. The local party is trying to get invoked ther, but state or nay candidates dont bother.

(3,764 posts)is that it is just as likely, maybe more likely, that a Trumper put that sign out.

(7,349 posts)I'm in a blue county! Still can have an effect on voter turnout.
Should I not post the encouraging signs I see?
I consider the Madison area to be "central WI", anything North of us is "up nort".....

(2,440 posts)We need support in this area. Trump visits Wausau regularly. Not a single candidate comes near central or rural WI. That cost us 2016.
Dane county and Wilwaukee county are not representative of central or Northern WI.
I like the signs, but dont mislead on the title. Madison is south central WI at best.

(7,349 posts)For those people who are out of staters however, they look on a map and see the Madison area as central in our state.
Used to live in the Point, Rapids and Rudolph areas.....how did you weather those storms you had?
You need a ton of help up there. I delivered midterm signs up in your area as no one seemed to be able to get their hands on any. If I were a betting person, I'd bet our next candidate won't make the same mistake of not visiting those red areas, although Stevens Point (Portage County) is blue....

(2,440 posts)Some people had horrendous damage and lost power for over a week. Rapids and Plover were hit badly.
Trump works this area, primarily Green Bay and Wausau. We have not had a single candidate visit this area. Sadly, this was the same in 2016. They definitely hit the southern part of the state (Milwaukee and Madison). But those communities/counties did not cost us 2016. Corey Booker was in Milwaukee yesterday, that is an easy target. Obama took several central and northern counties in 2008 because he visited them. These areas don,t have the donors that southern Wi has or the high vote totals. We only need to glean a small percentage to regain the state.
FYI: Madison is 57 miles from the southern border and 324 to Bayfiled. Anyone who looks at a map is not confused that Madison is in central WI. I just think the title is misleading, Democrats are not getting the gains we need in the central part of the state.

(7,349 posts)and amp up as we get closer to the election. I'll just say "Wisconsin" when I post the next one....
