Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI would like to see the immigration records of Cuccinelli's ancestors.
I have no doubt that Cuccinelli's Italian and Irish ancestors did not arrive on American shores with suitcases full of money.
Same goes for Mr. Miller's Belarusian great-grandparents.
Most of the European immigrants who came to America in the late 1800's and early 1900's came with about $5.00.
These people are hypocrites and hate mongers.
I don't know about others, but I can not give myself some kind of ancestry amnesia that allows me to forget where I come from.

(40,210 posts)His immigration story is the same as millions of others in that time period. There is nothing special about his family. And further, at that time there were
many in America who viewed Italian immigrants as undesirable and came up with several ethnic slurs to express that feeling.
Cuccinelli is a bigot, a homophobe, and a right wing zealot. He is a disgrace.

(21,786 posts)the current law goes back to 1965; the previous immigration law was passed in 1924. Cuccinelli's "Italian grandfather" was born in New Jersey (under the 1924 law which severely curtailed immigration from Southern Europe he probably wouldn't have been able to come in the first place).
