Ann doesn't get kudos for raising 5 boys...

my mom raised 5 kids...3 boys, 2 girls, she was a nurse that worked 3 to 11, my dad worked in a plant he worked swing shift. The only help she had was granny watched us when they both worked 2nd shift, cuz they couldn't afford a sitter.

Nothing special about what she did.

I'm fuckin' sick of hearing that she raised 5 kids. How much help did she have...

I don't think they will tell us about their butlers, the housekeepers, the cooks, the nannies, the drivers, and personal assistants and so on. "You people" have all the information you need.

Is she a saint because she raised the kids she chose to have.
I won't say it is easy, but even if they never used a nanny it's a lot easier when you don't work and have money. It is still totally irrelevant as to whether Romney should be President.

MY Mom only had to raise two kids, with little or NO help from my Dad. She worked 8 to 5. She made a sit-down dinner that was ready by 6:30 every night, then she did the dishes. I don't know why my sister didn't help, but my Dad was dead set against my doing kitchen things.

She did all the laundry. She did all the housework. She got my sister and me ready for school every day. She did all the grocery shopping. She hosted barbeques, holiday dinners, and cocktail parties.

Fuck any and everybody who would say MY Mom didn't do anything special.

They're both in their 70's now, and my Mom's health is beginning to fail. My Pop has finally stepped up and is now one of the better housewives I've known. That doesn't excuse his lazy ass for the past, and my Mom lets him know it.

I'll repeat this though for anyone who might have missed it: Fuck any and everybody who would say MY Mom didn't do anything special.

You sure you don't want to rethink that statement?

Not sure if you're able to comprehend, but if you look at human history, than NO, raising your own offspring isn't super special. It's expected for survivial of the species. It would be an oddity if it weren't so.

By your own admission your mom didn't haven't the help that Ann Romney had. She's not your average housewife. Your mother, my mother and other others in this thread were. They worked, took care of a home and raised children. Ann's life was NOTHING like ours, so I really wish she and her fucking husband would stop pretending that it was.

So I'll repeat this for anyone that might have missed it, fuck her she's not special.

edited to add: sounds like your mom was a hell of a woman!

Ann Romney didn't have to do anything that your mom did. Yet she gets all the accolades as if she had done what your mom did.

Ann Romney has always had help. Yeah, she may have played with the family and she may have had a bit of trouble dealing with five boys, but she had servants, and nannies. Don't you wish your mom had had someone to do the dishes and cook the meals and take care of the kids? Don't you think your mom would have appreciated such help?

If you don't think so maybe you should ask you mom if she would have appreciated it.

By the way, did you ever thank you mom for putting all her need aside for your needs? Or do you think her needs were completely fulfilled by meeting your needs?

Your answer will say volumes about you.

I appreciate how much of a sacrifice that is. Especially when I had to sell it before I was 59 and a half years old, which meant I got to pay a 10% penalty fee on top of depleting my IRA. I'm sure the Romney's have suffered.

A few years ago, when I was raising 4 kids with a husband who had a decent income, I really loved my life. I remember thinking, "I have NO idea how single or working parents DO it!"

Now I'm a single mom of 4, and am in school full time. And, naturally, being a student, I'm pretty broke. When I hear Ann Romney talk about how much 'work' it was to raise 5 boys (I hate how people always say 'OMG BOYS' as if raising boys was somehow more of an accomplishment than raising girls) I want to stick hot pokers in my ears...I'll trade HER work for MINE any day of the week. Spoiled rich girl. Wonder if she ever made her boys eat ramen so she could put off grocery shopping for a day or two until the child support came in, or drove in a car with a cracked windshield because there was no money to replace it, or fretted about how the tires need replacing, or panicked about the new school schedule that means finding early morning childcare for another child (and wondering where that childcare money is going to come from) and praying to God the fucking gas prices don't go up much more.... Oh, shit, need I go on? She can go fly a kite at one of her 5 houses.

You are amazing. Mitt and Ann Romney don't have a clue. If they did they would stop taking about themselves and start talking about people like you. All they are doing is selling themselves for personal gain so they can look sympathetic and folsky like you so they can win the elections.

People like you are the unsung heroes and people like them rob you to make themselves into something they aren't just to win an election. To them you are to be used for their personal ambitions.

They will demonize them. Well they are still mothers, but some how they have lost their sainthood because they are single moms. They have a harder time all around raising kids and working, but they are demonized by RWers and the meme is that they have caused all the problems in the world.
