Trump wants Corey to be his buddy.

Because Corey is about to be subpoenaed to appear before the House Judiciary Committee to clarify some answers he gave the Special Counsel, Mr Mueller. He gave them under oath.

So it is important to Donald that Corey fight the subpoenas all the way.

The most humiliating Obstruction of Justice episode IMO is his desperate attempts to get Lewandowski to fire Sessions, and also (I think this is accurate, correct me if I'm wrong) he dictates a ridiculous speech to Lewandowski to give Sessions, that Sessions is supposed to give, personally vouching for the great character of Trump and calling for the Mueller investigation to end.

2. Lewandowski wasn't even a member of the Cabinet...

Trump wanted him to get Sessions to say that it only applied to future elections, as I recall? Definitely wanted to end the Mueller investigation.
