People associated with the Romney campaign were involved directly in the decision to let him go on stage and to let him say anything he wanted to say. Someone put the stool up there, so they knew *something* was up. And if they *didn't* know what he was going to say, that's even worse.

(42,757 posts)The thinking must have gone like "hey we're getting an endorsement from Clint Eastwood. What could be bad with that?" And they let him wing it for as long as he wanted.

(11,464 posts)he rambled and went on and on clearly not right
then all of a sudden, I think it was CBS cut him off
and I wondered half jokingly if someone would be canned (or worse) for cutting the legend off
remember one thing with Clint- that chair was placed on the stage. This was no ad lib spur of the moment.
but then again, neither was Mitt's saying we are going to war with Iran and saber rattling with Putin.

(67,798 posts). . . . . he was perfectly lucid when he said that. It was intended to be wry and ironic. It got taken out of context and he was never able to get away from it. If one watches the whole thing, one can see he is coherent and engaged.
Kinda like this "We DID Build IT" shit the repubs are using.

(34,845 posts)The Romney 'campaign' has been a disaster from the start. Eastwood's idiocy doesn't even rank with all the gaffes and missteps so far.
No one is running the campaign because no one is running the GOP. The clown car's steering column is broken, the brakes don't work and the wipers are in shreds.
