(14,887 posts)I didn't watch any of the convention - watched the Angels beat Boston instead. When I read the rumor yesterday - here at DU - that Eastwood was the surprise speaker, I thought, 'No, he is too smart to do that.' And now I'm reading he did a monologue w/ an empty chair? That is the most idiotic thing I have heard yet about this conclave of lies, ignorance and under their breath racism.
At 82, Eastwood doesn't have enough years left to live this down. It is a good thing he has his own production company. Because I would seriously doubt any decisions he makes after this night.

(6,286 posts)she asked me "Daddy, why is that man talking to a chair? That doesn't make sense."
I said, "Because he's a Republican, honey."
She said "Do they do stuff like that a lot?"
I said "All the time, honey. They are very strange people. They don't live in the same reality we do."
She had her eyebrows knitted for the next couple of minutes. I think she thought that wild-haired guy from the TV was going to jump out and get her or something.
