Donald Trump's actions are signs of a "severe, continuous, mental disturbance"

Last edited Thu Aug 22, 2019, 11:32 PM - Edit history (3)

"Dr. Lance Dodes makes the case that the president suffers from a dangerous sociopathic disorder".

This is the doctor who was on The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell tonight. He is one of the doctors who signed "Duty to Warn".

"To understand his actions, it is essential to keep in mind that sociopaths have only one goal: to enhance themselves, and that in pursuing their self-interest, they lack both normal human empathy for others and a normal human conscience. Cheating, conning, lying, stealing, threatening are all done with no remorse."

"When stressed with facts that would require them to admit failure, or even that others know more or are more capable than them, sociopaths lose track of reality, becoming delusional with insistence on the truth of what they psychologically need to maintain their superior view of themselves. Indeed, nobody matters except to the degree they can serve the sociopath's perverse needs."

Being nuts is his get out of jail card. It's his new con.

If somebody will believe it.

It was said that we could expect decline and deterioration over time. He has been in office now for 2+ years and the rapid decline just over the past few days is more than a little frightening. No one in the GOP is saying much but others are crying out that something must be done. What more will it take before he is removed? Barking at the butterflies in the Rose Garden? Complete gibberish spoken in front of the press? We are not that far away from that.

How will history treat this episode in our American story? Some people will not come out looking so good for their failure to act.

reveling in his crazy-man act. All that differentiates him from many other everyday racist and self-centered and stupid people is the power conferred on him through illegitimate means. True, he, this inane sleezebag became perhaps the most powerful man in the world. But let’s not be fooled
by his parading his tv wrestler persona about. While we are getting besides ourselves about his trash-talk, Republicans are plotting to cheat us in 2020 and continue to plunder America while
satisfying the base fears and hatred of the base.

He is not going to be declared mentally unfit though in every way he is unfit.

He is a diversion.

Better we work on protecting the election and unifying as a party,

and locked in a padded cell with no communication with the outside world. For someone who needs constant adulation and attention, that might be the worst punishment of them all.

The hard right-wing brains behind this administration know what and who he is and they use him as a tool. Have to admit they're quite good at it, particularly in creating weekly (sometimes daily) distractions for the public view.

Meanwhile the cabinet and hundreds of right-wing department leaders go about their job of destroying our government. The GOP knew he was nuts in 2015 but decided what better way to foster populism than to have a reality show host as president.

If you're going to do psychopathic-like things to a company or government, you need a psychopath as leader....
