Susan Collins and Maine voters

I don't know much about Maine, so I'm wondering why the people there keep reelecting Senator Susan Collins. She talks like a moderate, but she votes for every insane piece of Republican legislation, and for every psycho that Trump nominates for anything, from the Supreme Court on down.

I never considered Maine to be "crazyland." But as far as I'm concerned, Collins is a deadly snake disguising herself as an affable sheep. Can't Maine voters see this? Are they brain dead? I just don't get it and don't know where to find out any more about it.

1. Seems like Maine is two states really: liberal in the southeast and mildly conservative elsewhere.

Her moderate stances had kept her afloat in prior years but she is now a full-blown hard right winger. She will need to rely on people not paying attention for her to survive. However, she will be on the same ballot as 45 so will need to spin and lie like crazy to keep her job.

2. Maine elected LePage to statewide office, so it is not out of bounds to call it "crazyland"

just like it is not out of bounds to say the US is "sick" because we elected sex predator Trump, or re-elected war criminal GWB

LePew later appointed the "independent" to state position.

3. I hope Sara Gideon is a good candidate and bumps her off. That would be sweet.

If Trump gets "boat raced" like he should, we could pick up a few of those close Senate races.

4. Collins has managed to alienate both left and right

And moderates are also coming to realize that she is as wishy-washy as it gets. Given that "concern" and "disappointment" top the list of what she has to offer Maine voters, there is not much "there there" aside from going along with Trump and McConnell when push comes to shove. The Kavanaugh confirmation vote will come back to bite her big time, with pro-choice voters who may have supported Collins in the past opposing her in droves.

5. She's a Maine native (big deal here) and was not a wingnut - but we have figured her out

And she is toast in 2020.
