I'd like to hear the Bushites explain how the U.S got a trillion dollars worth of goodness from this war.

(37,540 posts)The reality is Iraq was an artificial state, created by the League of Nations in 1920. It has always required a heavy hand in the central government to keep the warring factions separated. It wouldn't surprise me to see Iraq eventually balkanized into 3 semi-autonomous regions and becoming buffer-proxies to SA (Sunnis), Turkey (Kurds), and Iran (Shias). We could remain there a 100 years and nothing would change...as soon as we were to withdraw, the same political/social conflicts would bubble to the surface.
Well done George/Dick - a trillion dollars invested that accomplished nothing, except kill hundreds of thousands of innocents.
