Asked how he can reassure Americans he isn't trying to profit from the presidency, given he wants to host a G7 at his Doral resort, Trump claims again that the presidency has cost him $3 billion to $5 billion. (Can't fact-check a hypothetical, but no apparent basis for this.)

Which reporter asked *that* question about Trump trying to profit from the office of President?

(123 posts)You dropped several hints about Doral, and hosting next years g7 at your property, Jackson said. What reassurances, if any, can you give the American people that you are not looking to profit off the presidency?

My guess is no, they've normalized the idea of a US President making money off the power of his office.
At least, when a Repuke is in office. Should a Dem win, that will change right back ...
If a Dem POTUS, on official duty, stayed at a hotel 1/5 owned by his uncles cousins brother-in-law it would be a scandal

Too bad fucker.
1) Everyone knows you lose money on everything, all the time. Your occupancy in our house has nothing to do with it.
2) That shit is still ILLEGAL. What you think is "fair" doesn't change the law.

@HallieJackson Hallies question about having the 2020 G7 at Doral was brilliant. When asking about the conflict of profiting, she set him up to to ramble on and on about how great it is. She tried to give him a chance to answer he wouldnt profit and he brushed her off.

So many of the American media value access over facts, I was betting it was a BBC/French reporter
