I've caught a lot of crap on DU for suggesting that the concentration camps for migrants are not much different than the ones in Germany in the 1930s and 40s. Been screamed at, "But they aren't exterminating people." My response has always been, "how do you know what is being done? Tens of thousands of migrants are unaccounted for."

Whenever in history a leader has demonized and dehumanized a group of people who are then imprisoned in secret, atrocities have happened. Without exception. Trump has told his Border Patrol that immigrants need to be punished and suffer, he has told them that these immigrants are "animals" and "not even human." He's been clear that they need to be treated in the harshest ways. Our own members of Congress can't even get to see most of these detention centers, we have no idea what the conditions are like in the worst places.

It is not a matter of if, but of when mass graves are found. History doesn't have a single example of what is happening where atrocities didn't occur under these conditions with a leader calling for harsh and inhumane treatment. So whether it will be found that that a rogue group of guards took a group of migrants into the desert and executed and buried them or that it was more systemic than that. Mark my words, there are mass graves right now filled with innocent immigrants.

It makes me sick, but it's true. We didn't even have a march for the kids. Three marches for women, one for the scientists, & zero for kids in cages. Not that I think a march would change anything. And I don't know what to do. I don't have the resources or support network to travel to the border or to DC, & protest for a week, much less for weeks on end. Not many people do. So I'm stuck writing & calling my members of congress, a mostly broken institution at this point. It's certainly not capable of stopping this nightmare.

I'm sick about this whole mess & can't believe our only solution is to wait until November 2020 & hope the GOP doesn't lie, cheat, & steal another term for this destructive inhumane piece of shit.
