It's what had to happen. Trump's attorneys demanded a retraction and an apology, and they got it. But yes...it IS out there, and it's NOT going away. And it is definitely something that is well within the realm of "possibilities."

Lawrence O'Donnell
@Lawrence

Last night I made an error in judgment by reporting an item about the president’s finances that didn’t go through our rigorous verification and standards process. I shouldn’t have reported it and I was wrong to discuss it on the air. I will address the issue on my show tonight.

It was just "good night" and went straight to the apology. Rachel was absolutely flumoxed last night when Lawrence told her about it.

abandon Lawrence O'Donnell. He is one of the learned ones. Lawrence makes Trump look weaker even he makes a goof.

The smart thing to do was to toss a bone to Trump's attorneys and move on. He did. As I said above, the entire apology / retraction took about 60 seconds. No reason to do more than that, and if Trump's attorneys keep banging the drum, one would hope they're smart enough to know that they would really arouse suspicions over what Trump has to hide.

As evidence. Eric Trump is barking up the wrong tree. Isn't there an endangered animal for him to shoot somewhere?

The suggestion has been made. The apology has been made. Let trump prove it isn't true, even after all of those interviews with Beavis & Butthead who claimed to get their financing from RUSSIA.

If he is conflicted with Duetsche Bank, as many people have suggested, then he probably wants the story to die as quickly as possible, I would think?

Somebody with this much experience shouldn't be making these kind of (mistakes?). This is discouraging. If you're going to be a journalist, then be able to back up what you report. 101.
