Me thinketh Queen Ann hast told a lie. Like her husband, perhaps it is pathological?

As I watch and learn more about the Romneys I am shocked at how often they lie. Gentle people will call it a flip-flop but, no, it is a lie. There are times when you do change your mind and actually change the actual focus of your goals and work. That is not what I am talking about. That is a true change of course and that is part of growing and learning.

But then there are times when you just say whatever to appease whoever. You know, 'cause you are a liar. Some people lie so much they can't stop and they begin to lie about everything for no reason. Pathological liars lie in many ways.

There are lies of omission, of course, where you just leave stuff out. I do this with my mom so she doesn't worry to much. Ann Romney did it when, during her speech, she talked about the Romney Struggle. In her speech that struggle was terrible. A basement apartment with nothing to eat but an old can of tuna. SO gross. Her lie here is that, while telling the same story in 1994 to the Boston Globe, she talked about the "Romney Struggle" (My quotations, cause I am coining a term--even if just for my own enjoyment) and it included that basement apartment and a can of tuna fish, and their terrible, terrible financial situation that, and I quote, "Neither one of us had a job, because Mitt had enough of an investment from stock that we could sell off a little at a time.

“The stock came from Mitt’s father. When he took over American Motors, the stock was worth nothing. But he invested Mitt’s birthday money year to year — it wasn’t much, a few thousand, but he put it into American Motors because he believed in himself. Five years later, stock that had been $6 a share was $96 and Mitt cashed it so we could live and pay for education." (simple math: "few thousand" =$3000 divided by $6=500 stocks x $96 = $48,000 worth of stocks that they struggled to live on for a few years...30 + years ago. I have seen online estimates that the stock was sold 16X the paid for value and in today's dollars it equals $375,000 )

So Queen Ann now lies by omission about their struggle. And, for her, it was probably very difficult to live on $375,000 so she probably feels she is telling the truth. Mitt told similar lies about the mansion in Paris he lived in. He pretty much said it was a terrible squat with no kitchen for him to use. Yeah, no kitchen for him to use because the chef who cooked for Romney was too busy using to. A lie? You choose.

But those lies were at least omission. Ann and Mitt both seem to lie when they have no reason to. It seems pathological and they can't help it.

Queen Ann has been asked all day about Clint Eastwood's crayz speech and she is sick of it. She was on ABC's "Good Morning America," and when asked about Eastwood's speech she said, "I frankly hadn’t given it much thought. I didn’t know he was coming on stage." (she gave many different answers to this question previously)

Excuse me? Ann did not know Eastwood was coming on stage? That he was speaking? Most of America knew by that point. I know this is a silly little thing. I mean, really, who cares. But it just an example of how both Romneys and Ryan alike can't open their mouths without the lies just rolling out of their mouth. They can't help it. They are so used to being rich and beyond reproach, that their lies have never had any type of ramifications. They can look you in the eye and lie right to your face because they feel it is fine for the to lie to "you people".

There is a saying a friend's grandmother used to say.

They lie because they don't know the truth.

Mitt and Ann are a perfect fit. They do not know the truth.

I've seen that first hand, spend enough time with stupid people and you yourself start to lose it as well, so I don't see why lieing couldn't be as well. Live with someone who constantly lies, and you'll start to as well.

it makes no sense to me unless it is uncontrolable--and if that is the case, then it is pathological. The Republicans should be nominating their best and brightest. Not the rich guy who lies about everything and whose only business experience is gutting companies of wealth and taking as much as he could for him and his friends before the company collapsed.

He wants to do that to the country and will do anything he has to to win.

When people grow and change, they usually preface their comments by noting that they used to feel one way, but now, after reflection, feel another way. The rMoneys like to pretend that they always felt the "popular at the time" way--as though they've always been anti-choice Reaganites, and how dare anyone suggest otherwise?

It is pathological!

So much of DU is links, blurbs and funny captions. I like to read people's essays when they share their views and feelings.

I have such a distrust for these people that I wanted to sort of delve into why I had the feelings, how they earned my feelings and what their behavior says about them.

And it all comes down to... it is not that they lie, it is that they never STOP lying!

She was a theater teacher from the deep south and one day she said about a character "That girl lies like a rug and bangs like a screen door."

Quite racy and we were all shocked. :0) I still say it sometimes in her honor.

she also mentioned the weight of raising 5 children; but she neglected to mention she did so with the assistance of a live-in household staff.

That little omission is significant slant to that story.

We all know this is total bullshit. My family never had anything.. but I always knew that if I was in trouble, my Mom would send me ten bucks. They want us to believe that they were destitute, and their families disowned them?? I've known young couples from wealthy families, they have no clue how much their families have helped them by giving them their first car, their first job, their down payments, etc. etc. etc.

I've watched her body language and facial expressions, and she isn't a very good liar.

I have a feeling that in their personal lives, they are basically honest people, but on the campaign trail, they say whatever suits their purpose. "You people don't need to know who we really are, and its none of your business." And that would be okay if you weren't running for president.

That's the catch-22; the world that the Romneys live in is so far removed from what we go through on a daily basis; think about how much time and effort is spent worrying about having enough money to feed the kids, make the mortgage/car payment, child care, health care....

The Romney's have NEVER had to give those this so much as a second of thought. NEVER. They're trying desperately to make us believe they have, and to make their story believeable, they have to lie, sell the lie. The selling part isn't going so well. Ann the Panderer's sincerity is stuck at zero.

It was American Motors stock and the article I read said it was worth 96 dollars a share. If that is correct, they had a few hundred thousands of dollars to live off.
