WASHINGTON
A Virginia judge has asked Twitter to provide more information about the authors of two anonymous parody accounts that heckle California Republican Rep. Devin Nunes before deciding whether to dismiss the congressmans lawsuit against the social media company.
Judge John Marshall is weighing a request from San Francisco-based Twitter to dismiss Nunes lawsuit on the grounds that it does not belong in Virginia.
Marshall asked Twitter to provide the names and addresses of the anonymous authors behind the two accounts, the gross amount of revenue for Twitter in 2018 and the first half of 2019 and the number of Twitter accounts in Virginia.

A Virginia judge has asked Twitter for personal information about the people behind two anonymous parody accounts that target Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) as the court weighs whether to dismiss Nunes's suit against the social networking company.
Judge John Marshall has asked for the names and addresses of the accounts' authors in addition to the total number of Twitter accounts in Virginia and information on the company's gross revenue, the Sacramento Bee reported Thursday.
Twitter has asked for the suit to be dismissed, contending that it does not belong in the commonwealth.
Nunes has alleged in court that Twitter allowed the two accounts, called Devin Nunes Cow and Devin Nunes Mom, to defame him. He claims the same about GOP strategist Liz Mair's Twitter account.
The judge reportedly noted the information, requested by Nunes's team, would be under seal.

(10,017 posts)Nunes would run to Trump who would hereby order his personal non independent AG Barr, or other rabid loyalist(s) to do harm.
I can see why the name of a parody account holder could be justified though. Trump, or any politician with deep pockets, could setup a well funded and manned harassing parody account to use against opponents. If Twitter is satisfied the identity of Nunes cow is who it says it is, Twitter could explain the verification steps it takes to the judge.
