Supporters of Trump are in no position to forgive him for his lies or for anything else he does. They're fellow perpetrators, not victims. Commentators seem to miss this obvious fact a lot.
It lets Republicans have it both ways. They get the proceeds of Trump's lying, but instead of being assigned blame for it (as Trump supporters should) they are asked whether they blame him. That's like asking the fence whether he blames the thief.
