The ROMNEYs were "refugees"?!1 Really, ROMNEYs?!1

When the “refugees” word first popped up (I don’t remember if from the ROMNEY son or who), my first thought was that he was referring to the polygamist ROMNEYs running away FROM the U.S. Then it turned around somehow and whoever said it said that the ROMNEYs were refugees FROM MEXICO because of the revolution going on there.

Oh.

Well, then, how come there are still a sizable number of ROMNEYs colonized in Mexico, whom I saw interviewed on Univision a few months ago. They were spitting images of Mittens, and all dressed in Casual American (slacks, dress shirts, loafers), in white picket fenced houses. They are native Mexicans now, so of course spoke total Spanish (not clear whether they also speak English), and said they have never met or had contact with the Mittens branch but would welcome it and are pulling for their cousin (in degrees) to win.

I love Univision’s real, intrepid journalism. Back when the Minuteman border fence building was at its height, Univision in Arizona interviewed the (Texas born/Hispanic) “president” at a stretch of the fence. The camera was on the dude’s face. After awhile, while he was still answering questions, the camera panned away from him, panned, panned, and then bingo stopped at a stack of humongous bags of concrete mix, all stacked up on a pallet. Each bag had the product I.D./Logo, “Concreto so and so,” and “PRODUCTO DE MEXICO” on each bag in huge letters. Nobody commented on it at all, not the interviewee, not the reporter, not the anchor. Just the picture and its silent thousand words.

They’ve got the journalism thing down, not like the local yocal TeaBagger propagandists who are a wonder to behold in their cluelessness.

while we were listening to the speeches.

Pretty disingenuous. But not surprising.

Last year there was a news article about how archaeologists had found an ancient treasure trove, piles of wonderful gold jewelry.

As soon as I saw the headline, something about "Viking treasure," my first thought, withOUT malice, just curiosity, automatically was: "Hmm, I wonder who it BELONGED TO?!1"

A second later I realized my embedded assumption and laughed myself silly.
