In an angry Friday morning tweet, the president octupled down on his bogus claim that the hurricane was on track to slam into Alabama as recently as this past Sunday.

“The Fake News Media was fixated on the fact that I properly said, at the beginnings of Hurricane Dorian, that in addition to Florida & other states, Alabama may also be grazed or hit,” the president wrote. “They went Crazy, hoping against hope that I made a mistake (which I didn’t).”

The president then proceeded to accuse media outlets who accurately reported on his incorrect statements of being “corrupt.”

“This nonsense has never happened to another President,” the president complained. “Four days of corrupt reporting, still without an apology.”

You tweeted out on Sunday morning, 100 hours after the early projection showing Dorian headed toward (but not into) Alabama had been superseded. You were wrong then, you're wrong now. Any normal human being would have said, upon being corrected, "Oops, didn't mean to include Alabama, my bad," and moved on. Nearly a week later and you're still trying to turn your error into truth. You've convinced your thick-headed fanboiz that your new clothes are exquisitely tailored, but those of us inhabiting a place called reality can see all your shortcomings.

All he needed to say was, "Oops! I misspoke." No one would have thought anything of it. But he can't admit even a slip of the tongue, as we see when he errs while reading from a teleprompter. He just incorporates the error as though it were actually part of the prepared speech.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham, Alabama, tweeted in response: “Alabama will NOT see any impacts from #Dorian. We repeat, no impacts from Hurricane #Dorian will be felt across Alabama. The system will remain too far east.”

Few, if any, meteorologists put Alabama in the hurricane’s path. Asked Sunday if Trump had been briefed about potential impact to Alabama, Christopher Vaccaro, a spokesman for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, wrote in an email, “The current forecast path of Dorian does not include Alabama.”

On Monday, Trump pushed back on skeptics by insisting that “under certain original scenarios, it was in fact correct that Alabama could have received some ‘hurt.’”

And then, on Wednesday, Trump displayed the graphic with the alteration that suggested the storm could have tracked over Alabama.
