My father, THE Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., experienced bouts of depression.

I’ve had my struggles, as well. My mother shared about them in her book, ‘My Life, My Love, My Legacy.’

Especially a person like Dr. King, who also had a high empathy quotient.

diagnosis today. Since I can clearly state the difference, I was jailed and hospitalized with mania, but never with depression... There are effective medications available to treat both mania and depression
but in all cases the medication may produce undesirable side effects so it's important to explore other facets of the treatment process like counseling and psychoanalysis. Mental health and a productive life can be had for those of us willing to do the work.
