I find the black tape works without downloads, memory usage, updates, or worrying if the app really works as advertised.

And it's very easy to uninstall.

It has a piece of adhesive paper over it. Always.

It's near impossible to find a laptop or tablet these days without a camera.

When my daughter was in a mental healthcare facility this past year she was allowed to have a laptop or tablet, but it couldn't have a camera in it due to HIPPA privacy laws.
I had a Kindle I wasn't using and it cost $90 to get the cameras physically removed, more than the price of the tablet.
