Breaking news: "IMPEACHMENT"

House panel plans to intensify Trump impeachment probe
David Morgan
SEPTEMBER 12, 2019 / 4:07 AM / UPDATED 2 HOURS AGO

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Democratic-led U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee is expected to intensify its investigation of Republican President Donald Trump on Thursday, as lawmakers edge closer to deciding whether to recommend his impeachment.

The 41-member panel has scheduled an 8 a.m. EDT (1200 GMT) meeting to vote on a resolution allowing it to designate hearings as impeachment proceedings, subject witnesses to more aggressive questioning and quicken the pace of an investigation that is expanding into areas that could prove politically explosive for both Trump and Congress.

A more aggressive probe could add pressure on House Democratic leaders including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has resisted impeachment as a politically risky step for moderate Democratic freshmen from swing districts where ousting Trump is an unpopular idea.

"Keep edging" closer to impeachment, while revealing Trump crimes and PLENTY of scandal, along the path to elections. "Fake news" media - as defined by the Chief Executive criminal - will publicly destroy tRump and his crime syndicate.

As for "votes stolen" your reply reflects my greatest fear.

Stolen or miscounted votes can be accomplished in several ways, including foreign hacker intervention, paperless voting machines. gerrymandering and a whole bunch of newly appointed federal judges (R), willing to rule on election vote recounts.

To say we’ll just vote him out? That’s far more naive than I’d have expected from such a savvy veteran of many years of political wars.

Does she not realize the cheating and vote-rigging that WILL be underway to subvert next year’s vote? Hell, it’s underway right this minute!

Does she NOT take that into account? And WHY is she not taking that into account? Whistling past the graveyard, Nancy? Hoping the old systems we haven’t protected and have barely started updating will work?

The old saying was “that and a dime will get you a cup of coffee. This “hoping” and a dime will get you a few minutes on a parking meter (if even that much).

Get. The. Fuck. ON WITH IT!!!!

allow a touch screen to make selections, but produce a paper ballot.
After you have checked in, instead of a printed ballot you will be handed a blank paper. It's the same weight and size as our old paper ballots were. So the election judge will issue a code for you to access the ballot for your precinct.
The voter uses a touch screen for each selection then when the voter is satisfied with the selections, the blank ballot is inserted and printed. The voter can review the printout, make sure it's correct and take it to the scanner. If the voter made a mistake, the printout can be returned to the election judge and a new blank and access code will be given to the voter.

Even before these new machines, we had an excellent chain of custody for our paper ballots. They came in a sealed box inside the scanner, we broke a seal to get in and the seal number was recorded. At the end of the day, the voted ballots are placed in a box which is sealed and the seal number is recorded. Every piece of equipment is sealed and resealed. Unused ballots were locked back into the scanner and the keys are returned to the Elections office separately.

Of course now we will not have printed ballots and will not be returning unvoted ballots to the Elections Office. Just blank paper to use next time. (We are going to save a fortune on printing!! In the elections I have judged I never used more than 25% of the printed ballots which were supplied)

Pelosi knows how to win. The most effective strategy is to drag out this impeachment investigation until election time, which allows the press to report on every crime and scandal perpetrated by the tRump crime family and his GOP syndicate.

Put yourself in Nancy Pelosi's shoes for a minute. At what point would you be willing to allow the House to take a vote that would send Trump's fate to the Senate, where Republicans hold a majority and their leader is "Moscow Mitch" McConnell? I can envision a day when Mitch is begging for her to send Trump's fate to him. But she's smart enough to know she should never let him have the upper hand.

39. If they vote for a resolution of Impeachment it probably has to be referred to the Senate
Thu Sep 12, 2019, 03:58 PM
Sep 2019

because it is specifically referred to in the Constitution.

Resolutions of Censure or Reprimand are not in the Constitution.

The House can pass any resolution it wants. They could pass a "Resolution of Detailing Crimes committed by the President" and then "as the general election is near refer it to the American people" instead of the Senate.

I agree with investigation and voting but would rather keep Trump on the ticket so that he can suffer a massive electoral defeat.

The only way that we can destroy Trumpism/Republican Party is to sustain a massive and overwhelming electoral victory.

Impeaching and winning a narrow victory at the GE because we have taken out Trump and they run with a Romney/Haley ticket could reverse the current deep decline of the GOP and give them a clean slate to sell a new set of lies.

It is imperative IMO that we keep Trump on the ticket and make him accountable. We can still investigate, document and set him up for state prosecution.

I expect that if Trump is impeached and appears to be removed or loses the election that he will pardon everyone and then resign just before he is out of office and take a pardon from Pence

He will then spend everyday in front of microphones complaining about being persecuted and gaslighting the country.

The only way to extinguish this fire is an overwhelming renunciation at the polls, a McGovern type of loss.

Even if Moscow Mitch refuses to hold a trial in the Senate, so be it. But the House has to do its constitutional duty to hold impeachment hearings.

The longer he is 'normalized" the harder it will be to remove him. Another year and a half will further erode our institutions and add to his aura of invincibility. I predict that if Democrats chicken out on impeachment, his popularity will rise again to 50% for the next election. More than enough percent to cheat into another victory.

He is an actual reality star. He's like a deplorable bully survivor contestant who gains respect the longer he survives. There's a point that a despicable contestant becomes endearing for how well he manipulates and lies his way out of being voted off. Many Independents and Never Trumpers, moderate R's, will come back to him in 2020 just for the fact that he's a survivor. Even though there's an alliance on the island that COULD vote him off, they are fretting about how his own alliance members remaining and on the jury will react to them in the final vote. So they do nothing, and suddenly they find the asshole has won the game.
