Democrats reminded me of the country boy who shows up in the big city pool hall

claiming to not know anything about the game but once he gets the stakes high enough open his case and pulls out his two-piece custom-made pearl-handled monogram pool cue and proceeds to run table.

People were underestimating the Democrats all afternoon and then they whipped out their version of a two-piece custom-made pool cue, aka Barry Berke, who deftly wiped the floor with Lewandowski, took all his money and, just for fun, stole his drawers without removing his pants.

Although there are some very competent people on that committee, too often the politicians use these hearings as more of an opportunity to look important on TV (the GOPers are especially awful at it). But Lewandowski was not prepared to be pantsed by a pro like Berke.

They were trashing Dems from minute 1, rather than actually watching and absorbing the entire hearing.

This is not reality TV. We need to make sure the MSM doesn't make it so.

about how the Dems blew it again, blah, blah, blah. They really wrote a negative narrative. Then after they stopped showing it on the MSM it continued with questions from that other guy who really nailed him. After that info came into the networks they changed their tune and made the day's events less negative for the Dems.

in my mind was accurate. That said, the behavior of the Republicans was beyond adversarial. There was zero respect and zero decorum. Zero quest for any truth. Not even a glimpse of wonder...might trump have done something wrong? All they cared about was disrupting and slowing Nadler down with parliamentary questions, calls to adjourn and time wasting roll calls.

If you don't care enough to have already formed an opinion on Drumpf and his minions, you certainly aren't sitting down to watch a congressional hearing at 10am on a Tuesday.

The average swayable voter, of which there frankly aren't that many these days, probably doesn't even know who Corey Lewandowski is, let alone what is connection to Donald Trump might be.

And even if they did recognize the name, the vast majority of the US is working when these things are on. The only people setting aside the rest of their lives for a few hours to watch this live, or to follow along word for word online, are those who have already made up their mind on these issues, basically us and "them."

The Dems actually do something. A good grilling at a hearing is pointless unless it's followed up with action. Impeachment should've started a long time ago. There needs to be action at this point!

I could not bear to watch the ranking GOP member's theatrics and Lewandowski's contempt and back-talk. I had to turn it off and walk away.

Since then I have discovered that it got much, much better after Berke came on. Rachel's comments helped a lot, and her "free advice" was spot on (to let the prosecutor/lawyer have his half-hour block first thing and only then let the committee members have their 5 minutes each). I hope they listen to her.

but it was a great idea and was plainly needed because the 5 minute alternating set-up with the repugs grandstanding and discrediting everything was just not productive.

Berke calmly and determinitely eviscerated Lewandowskit with precise, unavoidable question that left the repug scumball sweating and squirming.

I loved it.

It's a new day with these hearing now with the insertion of a pro to do the questioning.

I get it - I'm impatient too - but I am so, so discouraged at the disparagement of our party by people in it who are looking for a "do-something fix" (as a lawyer who comments elsewhere put it.) I do appreciate your laying our actual accomplishments.
