(19,253 posts)There already is an investigation that is a formal impeachment inquiry, you don't need 218 votes for an investigation. I don't understand all this counting, what's the point of it?

(24,654 posts)If the support is there up front, it's more likely there will be a successful impeachment vote down the line when the Articles of Impeachment are drafted and formalized, if and when they are put before the entire House for a vote.
ETA: It's a strength in numbers thing and could help move the needle on public support for impeachment. "Well goodness, if that many reps see this behavior as potentially impeachable, maybe there is something there!" Could also apply similar pressure to moderate Republican reps. Only time will tell.

(19,253 posts)I mean, I know Trump has done 100s of things impeachment worthy, but shouldn't House members wait to see evidence before they are for impeachment?

(58,765 posts)Trump handed them all the evidence they need by dropping that transcript in their laps.
So any unnamed Blue Dogs are stuck, now. No more studies to decide about impeachment investigations.

A road that begins with official inquiries into suspected impeachable offenses to know what the Articles of Impeachment would ultimately contain. We're at the beginning of the end. Not near the end.

(27,985 posts)That presser had Pelosi looking the way I look on my way to the dentist. Why she looked so very unhappy is not for me to say (any theories I have, I will post with William Rivers Pitt on FB. In other words: not here).

What you see on Madame Speaker is the look you see on vets faces when they go back into combat for the second or third time.
She knows that it won't be fun, but it needs to be done.

That was me, dancing around a subject I am not allowed to speak to.
Your spin about Pelosi's demeanor could well be right. My unspoken one could also be right. It could be a third one, as well.
I think we can agree that she looked pained, whatever the reason.
