Pelosi to MF45: "You have come into my wheelhouse."

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/25/us/politics/pelosi-intelligence-impeachment.html

"Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Trump were discussing gun violence over the telephone Tuesday morning when the president abruptly changed the topic to an intelligence community whistle-blower complaint that had Democrats talking about impeachment.

Ms. Pelosi stopped him short.

“Mr. President,” she declared, according to a person familiar with the conversation, “you have come into my wheelhouse.”

The remark was a reference to Ms. Pelosi’s quarter-century of experience with intelligence matters in Congress, an aspect of her biography that played a central role in her decision on Tuesday to open a formal impeachment inquiry into Mr. Trump.

......
For Ms. Pelosi, the intelligence and national security implications of the latest allegations against Mr. Trump helped turn the tide.

Long before she was speaker, Ms. Pelosi served as the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, overseeing the secretive workings of America’s national security apparatus and helping to draft the law that governs how intelligence officials file whistle-blower complaints, and how that information is shared with Congress.

She saw the latest allegations against Mr. Trump — that he pressured the Ukrainian president to investigate a leading political rival, then worked to bury an intelligence whistle-blower’s complaint detailing the effort — as an egregious perversion of the process." (more)

But they weren't acting alone, and that's even more wonderful. The party, Nancy in particular, had been protecting them and other in risky districts from involvement -- with their full, sensible cooperation. As advised, they spent the last 9 months quiet, reportedly resenting all the attention to "the squad" but sticking to issues their locals cared about and staying the heck away from the impeachment and other controversy.

When the whistleblower complaint turned out to be the big sea change, their group action was part of a coordinated Democratic response, lead by Pelosi and her leadership team, which also included the choreographed statements of other prominent house and senate Democrats.

Electorally, it was also a strategically protective action because all of them would be required to take public stands as we moved forward. Clearly, it was decided that their strongest move would be to take a principled stand as the national security-oriented group they were. I haven't seen anyone explain who first suggested that, though.

Btw, a WaPo article says their action left Pelosi with "no one to protect" and implies that this group's bold action pushed Pelosi to impeachment. Uhuh. To me that seems right up there with Fox's claim that Nancy was pushed to impeachment by "socialist" Ocasio-Cortez. Encouragingly, there seems to be a theme among the freshman class in general that they don't want to let electoral concerns change them.

“The caucus is going to stick together, the speaker speaks for us now,” Shalala said. “And my district will understand why we have to stand up now.”

It doesn't take away from the value of the seven's action in the slightest that it was also strategically protective. They and Pelosi knew they'd be required to take public stands as this moved forward, and we're admiring the strong, principled stand they've taken as the national security-oriented group they are. Risking hanging separately would have been a far weaker response in all respects, unworthy of this group.

Didn't Pence even make some trips over there during these past six months????????

If he made calls, and/or trips, the Dem House should include him in the impeachment articles.

Then that would blow plan B of the Repubs, to, at the last minute, kick Trump to the wolves and install Pence and their choice of VP to run in the next two elections........

Within the same ten minutes the Republican Senate will impeach Trump, and install Pence. In the next few minutes he will Pardon Trump and appoint their choice of VP. The Dems won't have the time to do anything. The Dems need to name Pence, Barr, etc in the impeachment right now.

It's their only hope.

Go For Greatness !!!!!!!!!

His biggest goal has always been to ‘fit’ in. To be taken as one of the serious ones, which he never has been.

To have such a strong woman who is clearly at the pinnacle of power so openly tell him to ‘fuck off’ in a manner of speaking, will leave a mark he can’t forget.
