Pelosi may be right about a quick, narrowly focussed impeachment

Watching Chris Murphy on RTMS, he seems to support it.

Trump and his mob aren't known for thinking on their feet. Would 'Shock and Awe' catch them unawares, forcing them to lie and cover up more?

2. This issue is also very simple and easy to explain to the public in one sentence.

The Russia/campaign stuff was much more convoluted and indirect. Here we have his own words directly acknowledging he broke the law and violated his oath of office. That's what every prosecutor and jury is relieved to see because it makes it easy to understand -- a confession.

Plus, unlike when he was a candidate, even some Repukes acknowledge that *now* he has responsibilities and duties as POTUS which apparently in their minds a "mere" candidate does not.

Lock him up.

Defend and protect the Constitution of the United States... (+++) not to break laws as he sees fit to benefit himself.

A candidate with no experience in gov. has to obey the law though.

4. Impeachment isn't exactly a criminal trial

But when they prosecute criminal suspects who are accused of multiple crimes they often prosecute the easiest cases first.

Impeachment is as much a political act. Public sentiment will help put pressure on senators. That also argues for not waiting too long.

We also have a deadline of the election. I was told in another thread that the senate trial has to occur by the election or the house has to re-impeach

There are some causes for this impeachment that might be made stronger with more paperwork and investigation and getting a second impeachment vote might be hard. Would we be able to keep public sentiment on our side for that?

The end of the year is looming. It’s basically October already. We could impeach by the end of the year but would that mean the trial would happen after New Years with a month in between? That’s if McConnell even has a trial.

Yeah too many questions. I’m happy that things are moving but almost as happy that I don’t have to figure stuff like this out.

... Like they did with the Mueller Report.

I agree with your conclusion. As others have pointed out, this case is simple and easy to understand.

Quick, narrowly focused. Like an arrow. Or like a shiv.

7. Unfortunately, probably. One clear issue will give Repubs less

opportunity to muddle and confuse. Everything has to consider the 2020 elections.

I'm disappointed that he won't be charged for at least main representations of various categories of crimes, tho, such as his policy of deliberate vicious cruelty to migrant families. We really need to hang him up by the thumbs on that one to say that this isn't who we are.

On the smiley side, this headline in the WaPo made me chuckle: ‘I wish we waited a little longer’: Some House Democrats fret as Pelosi forges ahead with impeachment

And this one from Fox on why Nancy is "forging": Kevin McCarthy: If you want to know what Pelosi will do tomorrow, read AOC's tweets tonight. "Because AOC tweeted over the weekend, Nancy Pelosi is now trying to appease the socialist wing of the party," McCarthy continued."

That phone call looks clear -- using the power of the U.S. to extort for personal political gain -- but will be dismissed as semantics by the cult.

In my opinion, all the crimes need to be aired on tv to get a groundswell of support for removing the nasty from the Executive branch.

depend on whether the senate votes to remove. Highly unlikely seemingly, but one insider commented that "30" Republican senators would vote to remove if they could only do it anonymously. Over the next few months, perhaps something will happen to shift public opinion so they can suddenly become brave and principled.
