But at this point, there just isn't any choice left. Allowing him to serve out the rest of his term unmolested is no longer an option. The risks to national security have become too great. It is not to say that Trump hasn't been a security risk all along, but now that it's out in the open, bad actors may be motivated to strike. As long as Trump's security breaches were not generally known or confirmed, he could be blackmailed but not exposed. Now that Trump has been exposed, countries and factions that have been holding back damaging information face a time limit on how useful that material is.
