(9,895 posts)I'm not sure about Andrew Johnson, but given the proximity to the actual Civil War of his presidency, I would highly doubt that he wanted to remind people of that either.
Only the current usurper is scumbag enough to sink to such depths...but if one lives in the gutter, is it really "sinking" or just "continuing to exist"?

(18,122 posts)I believe that even Nixon wanted to do what was best for America. He was just using corrupt ways to do it. Trump, on the other hand, only cares about himself.

(25,183 posts)that Trump will agitate for secession of the red states upon leaving office, especially if it is from impeachment or electoral defeat.
Also, partisanship has grown so much during our lifetimes that impeachment is at least discussed with each new president, and will probably be attempted every 20-25 years by Congress.
We used to be one nation united, but I fear that unity is seriously imperiled.
