Remember at the end of the original Jurassic Park, where everyone is cornered by the velociraptors and it looks like certain doom, and then all of a sudden, the giant T-Rex appears and starts attacking the velociraptors, allowing everyone a chance to escape?
John Bolton's that T-Rex.
He's a terrible, deadly cold blooded creature that no one in their right mind should ever embrace, but he still very well might serve a useful purpose in the end.

(37,161 posts)Gangsters Rocky and Mugsy are pirates trying to fire the cannon at an enemy ship, and are such bumblef**ks that it goes off in every direction except where they want to aim.
Yosemite Sam rants and raves at them, but noting improves their aim. Without Bugs around, Sam is left as the smartest one on the ship, finally jeers in disgust, lowers the ship's boat, and rows away toward the horizon as the the P.S. Cloisterfoch finally gets enough holes to send it to the bottom.
Yeah, that's wordy, bit people liked the T-Rex.
No one sane "likes" Bolton!
I personally LOVE BOTH analogies. But Bolton resembles Yosemite Sam more than he does a T-Rex, so there is an excellent argument for your analogy .

(13,485 posts)That plays well in your analogy and against tRump to the hilt. When it's all over though, he'll have to be chained up to keep him from eating more than the velociraptors.

(10,130 posts)Bolton doesn't want to be a part of that club.
It is becoming increasingly probable that soon or eventually, some of those that are guilty will cut their losses to minimize their personal exposure.

Even Bolton would love it -- because he wouldn't get the subtext about what a "terrible, deadly cold blooded creature" he is. (On the other hand, maybe he'd relish the description!)

(14,176 posts)Trump, Pompeo, Giuliani, Bolton, all of his top appointees past and present. And you can throw in McConnell and Graham.
These are the biggest snowflakes on the planet. If they see that they are going to be used in any way to be the blame for some bad outcome, they will lash out in reaction against the others.

(14,537 posts)Always scheming, plotting and lying to make himself seem more important and useful than what he really is. Hides from actual fighting. Sides with the enemy when it suits his ego. Always looking for who will butter his bread. All around basic weasel. Forced to do the right thing when death and destruction is about to be unleashed on the people that saved him and kept him alive for years. ( he joined a leader, Negan, who would threaten to kill him if he didn't do exactly what he wanted.)
