Impeachment: Three Presidents in the last 45 Years.

Last edited Fri Nov 1, 2019, 02:34 PM - Edit history (1)

That's a lot compared to a single president impeached in the preceding 185 years. What's different? Is it because America's population is way bigger and harder to manage? Is it because we pay more attention now? Is it because of greed and/or capitalism? Is it because things fall apart?

Because what you are saying is that Because JFK and FDR weren't Boy Scouts either, that makes Clinton not an asshole.

He cheated on his wife, for Chrissake, had his penis in a bimbo's mouth in the oval office. Stuck a cigar up her you know what...

And the Democratic party was put in the embarrassing position of having to pull his nuts out of an impeachment fire.

Yea, he was an asshole.

And we keep electing assholes to high office based on their notoriety.

And hope the other party does the same.

So that even when the candidate of the other party wins the election, regardless of his policies, we know that there's a person of integrity in the Oval Office.

He used his position of power both as governor and president, to coerce women who were subordinate to him into relations. And unlike a preceding poster who agrees he was an asshole but called one of his victims a bimbo- I put the blame squarely on him and not on the 22 year old intern who realistically had no option but to accommodate him.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

What part of “I believe women” do some of you so called progressives not understand? It’s not always convenient, but I don’t care if it’s convenient.

If I’m gonna call out Kavenaugh, then I’m also gonna call out Clinton.

I mentioned him above just not by name.

And yeah, I know Nixon wasn't impeached but they sure as hell drew up the articles. I mean big boy hasn't been impeached...yet.

I'm trying to ask the bigger questions. Is our country more corrupt now than it was before? Are we speeding things up somehow? Stuff like that.

But we should have impeached Reagan over Iran Contra. We should have impeached George W. Bush over Iraq.

What's different? I'd like to say greed. Don't get me wrong. I don't think there is more greed than there ever was. I do think it has become increasingly empowered.

Carter was too soon after Nixon and Dems controlled the congress. Their next shot was Clinton so impeachment was almost baked into his presidency.

Trump has just been begging for someone to do something so he can marshall his "army" of Republicans and destroy democracy.

did not receive the same scrutiny as those who served in the past half century. If every aspect of the lives and behavior of FDR or JFK or Woodrow Wilson, and many other presidents were as widely and deeply known as those of more recent presidents, we probably would have had more impeachments over the years.

I have a co worker who is a very well connected political operative in Nashville. He spent hours with both Bill Clinton and Obama. As candidates he said Obama was a bit of an ass personally. He said Bill Clinton was the most personable candidate he has seen in 40 years and he has seen them all in intimate settings. He still says Clinton was the best campaigner of his lifetime. An educated red neck. lol.

He’s still an asshole for the way he treated women whose jobs depended on his satisfaction.

Paula Jones never presented any evidence that Clinton had mistreated her or that he had met her at any time in any hotel room. Once under oath she refused to name a date, day of the week or general time of day in which Clinton had "assailed" her. No other person backed her story up.
The only reason we heard of Jones was because she shopped her story to wealthy republicans who then backed her grift.

Monica Lewinsky was an adult who while in college said she planned to get presidential knee pads. In there first meeting Lewinsky showed off her thong to Clinton.
Lewinsky was not a mistreated naif. She was an adult she sought out the relationship and engaged in it consensually.

There is no evidence that Clinton used his position to coerce either Jones or Lewinsky. No evidence that Clinton by word or deed influenced how they were treated in their work.

These were the only two women who worked for Clinton and had or claimed to have a sexual interaction with Clinton.

There have been decades of lies about Bill Clinton and unfortunately they have become the common wisdom.
