Shit and fan as Toxic Trump continues his insanity and daily risks the senate and the WH next year, I think Congress will see his enablers becoming more co-operative...

(8,200 posts)They had be very careful what the write or say since it could compound their problems. These people are being prodded on by the hacks at FOX who will claim they are shielded from prosecution.

(9,685 posts)They have gone to far... they have completely disregarded the rule of law, and they must be taught that they can never get away with trying to literally rip up the Constitution again.

(16,955 posts)PRESIDENT OBAMA and Nancy Pelosi deciding that it was best to put wrong-doing in the past, we will see things a little bit differently this time.
Times have changed, the mood has changed, and I believe that people realize that a lesson is to be learned by those that think they got away with something!
We shall see................

(19,205 posts)democrats, immigrants, the LBGTQ, Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, and the poor......... I think the chances are pretty damned good that he'll be dealt with. His days of thumbing his nose (among other body parts) at the law are over, and there needs to be an example made. Even if federal lawmakers take it easy on him, there's still New York State to deal with, and Trump is even less popular in New York than he is nationally.
I would not want to be in Donald Trump's shoes for the next 10-15 years of his life (should he live that long). The lives of his progeny, close associates, and those who abetted his very hostile takeover of the United States should be very worried as well. Even if they escape legal repercussions, their reputations and legacies are forever tarnished by their unabashed fealty to the most corrupt man on the planet. So they have that going for them.

With that said: I will aggressively canvas for and fundraise for the first Democrat who says they will enforce these laws. If enough other people do, it may matter yet.

(17,475 posts)The phrase "Presidential pardon" hasn't been mentioned much on DU lately, but it's still a real threat. In his last FU to America, tRumo could sign pardons for EVERYONE involved, then resign and receive a pardon himself from his successor.
Even if that fails, they could take a page from Stone's book and claim medical or mental incapacity.

(7,440 posts)Pardons aren't legitimate if they are granted in the commission of a crime or if they obstruct an investigation into a crime, eh? Oh. I'm not a lawyer, so it might be worth the effort to verify.

(6,236 posts)... now I want to see these people removed from the political gene pool. Hopefully to never come back with their blind attitude to follow anyone who has no regard for the Constitution, laws, and the institutions that serve the American people.
I never want to see them able to bring those delusional misguided attitudes to another elected extremist who might win another political office.
A little time in jail, being disbarred, having thousand of dollars in legal defense fee, and the Scarlett letter on your CV saying you worked for a traitor that trusted the Russian more than our experts. Hopefully, a punishment will prevent them from holding a similar post in the future.
They need to find another line of work. They do not deserve a second chance as a staff member in a public elected office.

(6,236 posts)Otherwise IMHO the law-breaking escalates with each case that is ignored.
The reasoning becomes They (prior offenders) got away with this so we should be able to at least do the same or maybe push the envelop a little further.
Trump is the perfect example of this reasoning on steroids. What he gets away with on Monday becomes the starting point for the next outrage on Friday.
ENOUGH of this sh*t already!

(41,871 posts)They probably won't and ignore it to their peril ... I would love to see a bunch of Republican
Senators go to prison over this whole thing. Trump, Pence, and sons..all behind bars for a few years..Just to let them know trying to go up against the United States Constitution was a huge
no-no!

(10,721 posts)Someone with Trump's numbers can't win a fair fight, even with the electoral college in place.
We must raise hell over election fraud in its various forms, and turn out the base to the extent that we can overcome election fraud. That's it. None of this garbage about converting Trump supporters or winning over the few and far between swing voters. Just boost turnout (relative to 2016) among POC, youth and white suburban women, and raise hell over any effort to suppress/interfere.

(586 posts)if they become too critical of trump, he'll make a bunch of insulting tweets about them & the crazies might not vote for them. If trump shows up to campaign for them, he will motivate the opposition more than trump voters!
