Is Antifa real? Have you ever met anyone affiliated with them? Why do we never see interviews with them? Why aren't they active on here and resistance Twitter?
I truly believe there are small groups of people paid to act violent for media coverage.

vast majority of antifa are just normal people who gather locally in reaction to fascists. The guys who show up in black bloc are by far the exception, but yeah they do exist.
Let's be real though. the "acts of violence" we see attributed to Antifa are usually brought on by the fascist groups and usually by literally attacking them and then filming them defending themselves and posting it to twitter.
Follow Robert Evans @iwriteok. He does a great job of covering this stuff.

(29,322 posts)I saw them go viral when Portland police officers were rough with them. I wouldn't worry about them. They mostly doxx & follow/protest Nazis such as chasing Richard Spencer's followers around town. They wear masks to prevent doxxing by the alt right.
They are anarchist so they are probably further left than the resistance. I'm further left than the resistance myself but not as far left as antifa.

(14,961 posts)timed to the word Antifa and I was curious about them. There are times wonder, if they aren't just a Fox news boogey man.

Antifa is who, and they are anti-fascists, as we should all be here on DU.
And why would people who are brave enough and physically able to push back against fascists on the street want to make themselves visible and invite FBI visits and surveillance and possible DOJ prosecution from a hostile trump administration?

(7,670 posts)its not an organization, but a loose affiliation of people and groups who believe that direct action is the best way to counter fascists.
Note, direct action usually involves peaceful protests, and the worst any antifa affiliated people have done in this country are scuffles at best.
Compared to those that are affiliated with fascists, who get a little shooty, to put it mildly.
Outside of the U.S. antifa is quite strong among the Rojava forces, and over there, they have killed people, ISIS fighters.
As far as why they aren't active here or on resistance twitter, because these places are far too right leaning to stomach some of the rhetoric and positions of many antifa people. While liberals can be antifa, chances are that most antifa you meet will be various other forms of leftists, socialists, communists, anarchists, etc.
If you want to see antifa related activities online, probably look up breadtube related content on you tube, or go on twitter and follow some truly leftist groups, like the IWW, DSA, Socialist Alternative, Cooperation Jackson, Sam Seder, etc.

(13,582 posts)for some counter protesters and a label put on others. There isn't a web site to join Antifa and get the newsletter emails.

(922 posts)My right wing coworkers go off on antifa, how they are a terrorist group. I take great pleasure in correcting them when I say they shouldn't be PC. Call them by their full name. Antifacists. In the past you called these guys snowflakes.
What is wrong with beating up nazi skinheads? Or do you support nazi's?
