There are several threads currently about Haley, with excerpts from her recent book. As a SC activist who watched her career for years, you better be very concerned about her.
If you think Trump is bad, think of an attractive Trump with impulse control and political savvy. She is just as far right as the Trumpers but can mask it and present it as a legitimate political stance. Being of Indian heritage, she gets a pass on the racist label while still dog-whistling the rednecks and Nazis.
I saw her do it in SC and she has plans to do it in the national stage.

(32,102 posts)She's as phony as a three dollar bill. Her career has been one big, giant snow job. This is the same sack of shit who did nothing about the Confederate loser flag flying on the Statehouse grounds throughout her first term, and only removed it after a bunch of people were massacred in their church over it. She's full of shit.

(20 posts)...she still didn't have to remove it. But doing that along with allying with Tim Scott means that she could reliably make a strong showing in South Carolina during the primary and can take credit for the only black Senator currently serving. She is a very formidable candidate coming out of this mess. Remember that Trump wouldn't be President unless that 55% of white women went with him. If that number is no longer possible for Trump it would certainly be available to Haley in many matchups against the wrong Dems.
58Sunliner
(4,431 posts)@58% of eligible voters voted. Accounting for demographics, the math says that @32% of white women voted for DT. If those numbers are not fraudulent in any way. Only 26.5% of all eligible voters voted for DT. And most of those were male.
ProfessorGAC
(65,387 posts)Assuming your premise #s are correct (and they seem correct), you've got "it" getting 32% of white women.
You say 55% didn't vote for "it" so wouldn't 45% that did out of the 58%, be a little over 26%?
58Sunliner
(4,431 posts)I agree I erred on the plus rather than the minus. There is no database, unfortunately, that gives accurate numbers of voting data based on race/sex. Most data is culled from exit polling data. It looks odd to see that the actual female vote for DT was @12-15% of the total percentage of eligible voters. Actually, more white women voted for Hillary.

(41,199 posts)'Washington Post: Nikki Haley says top Trump aides tried to recruit her to undermine President.' CNN, Nov. 10, 2019.
Washington (CNN) Former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley divulged in her forthcoming memoir that former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former White House chief of staff John Kelly attempted to recruit her to undermine President Donald Trump in an effort to "save the country," according to The Washington Post.
The two former Cabinet members sought Haley's help in their endeavors to subvert the President but she refused, Haley wrote. The Washington Post obtained a copy of her book, titled "With All Due Respect," ahead of its Tuesday release. CNN has not seen a copy of the memoir.
"Kelly and Tillerson confided in me that when they resisted the President, they weren't being insubordinate, they were trying to save the country," Haley wrote.
At one point, Haley wrote that Tillerson also told her people would die if Trump was unchecked. However, Haley said she supported most of Trump's foreign policy decisions that others in the White House tried to block or slow down, according to the Post...https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/10/politics/nikki-haley-tillerson-kelly-save-the-country-recruit-white-house/

(13,878 posts)to nail down her approach. Criticism of Trumps nasty demeanor and his lack of any skill in handling foreign affairs to appeal to traditional republicans, coupled with loyalty and praise for his accomplishments to not irritate any of the Trump base.
And, while the criticism of any Governor running for Prez is their lack of foreign policy experience, she obviously has that covered in her resume.
When she took the position as UN ambassador, I'm sure that was because of her long range ambitions to run for president. Looks great on her resume.

(58,785 posts)Last year, for instance, their house caucus had 23 women, now it's 13 women who are very angry and embattled over the way they're being treated. Getting rid of senators, elected by whole states for 6 years is harder, and that's the reason they haven't plummeted in number also. It's happening in some state and local governments as well.
And of course there are many attacks on women's equality directed at all of us. Only female misogynists and women who agree with inequality are going to vote for them.
Btw, this is yet another sign pointing to increasing fascism on the right. Fascistic governments are strongly male dominated and don't like empowered women.

(58,785 posts)what she's part of. There's a lot of hostility on the right toward women in positions traditionally held by men, and men at all levels who agree with that can harness it to take down women at all levels. The more successful the RW fascistic movement became, the more at risk Haley herself would be, not just women in general.

Nikki does have one black mark on her financial resume. She was employed as a major donor fund raiser, asking corporations for $100,000 plus donations on behalf of the largest hospital consortium in Columbia. Testimony from several people who worked there said she was only seen on premises a time or two, and there were serious questions if she was earning her $100,000 stipend or just receiving it so she would vote the right way as a State legislator. But this all came out during the campaign and didn't really hurt her, and of course it pales in comparison to getting $400 million from Daddy and then teaming with the NY mob to rip people in with real estate deals.

But when it comes to the self righteous, gawd fearin' Republicans, personal life is more than fair game. Won't matter to the wing nut faithful, as we've seen with IQ45, but still. Our side needs to take the damn gloves off. The fate of the Republic demands it. Enough of the "we go high" stuff. It isn't working.
