(73,537 posts)A professor from the NYS University system contacted me today, to ask: (1) if I would be interested in speaking to classes; and (2) if she could use this as a text book in her political science classes? Yes to both, of course!

(73,537 posts)Some days, this radiation bit knocks the shit outta me, and increases my naturally grumpy nature. But I am doing alright ..... the doctor had said that after two weeks, it was probable that I'd be hospitalized for about 10 days. Didn't happen. Must be the combination of stubborn & stupid has some benefits!

(4,316 posts)I was surprised when you mentioned radiation. I surely hope it does a lot of good and you regain complete health. I will have your good health in my thoughts. Ann

(73,537 posts)I very much appreciate that. Very, very much.
Despite my habitually whining & self-pity, I'm a fairly tough old man. I'm betting on me to win this one.

(22,142 posts){{ }} Stubborn has many good properties. Hendrix is my favorite - a poster with that quote hung in my dorm room/apt. all through college (1970-1974). I don't know what ultimately happened to that poster, but I never forgot the quote.
H2O Man
(73,537 posts)collection of Hendrix music. Used to have lots of posters etc, too. I've seen a few of them in my kids' apartments; the rest disappeared. Jimi was a unique talent and fascinating person. (Never met him myself, but know others who did. One of my sister-in-laws was once married to a guy who was in a group that often opened for the JHE. One evening, in the dressing room, she accidently knocked over his guitar. Yikes!)
Stubborness is a resource that is coming in handy right now!
