If they can keep the swine fever out of the US...if they can keep from having to kill the pigs in this country.... while the disease decimates their own herds, they can feed their population with US-raised pigs.
The future wars will be over food and water, and the Chinese are outmaneuvering us early on.
With trump fucking the tariff wars up, and with China - and Russia - ascendant in the world, we have a lot of catching up to do.

(3,268 posts)...as now constituted the American consumer may be outbid or at least stressed pricewise in buying proteins. Instead of normal price fluctuations driven nationally and facing high prices because XYZ loves bacon you are now facing international competition for staple proteins that now play out in beef and pork...

Given the governments (Especially Republicans) love of deregulations and the power of some groups, I have to wonder.
I dont think the US would have slaughtered great numbers of cattle as the UK did.
