This is also why “just leave it to the voters” is not an adequate remedy. You can’t rely on the very process Trump is trying to subvert to render a fair verdict. You have to stop him SO THAT the election can be accepted as a fair verdict.

Impeachment is now about deterrence. There is no other way to stop Trump welcoming foreign interference in our elections in 2020 (after all, Ukraine is only country we know about so far, let alone 2016) regardless, indeed despite, Senate vote.
It’s critical to name and shame it.

Not removing him would cast so much doubt on 2020 election results and outcomes. And we already know he'll do anything to win.

Impeachment and removal is imperative.

It's a matter of Dem turnout being great enough to overcome it.

Senate conviction won't happen. *Maybe* Trump will resign, but I wouldn't bet on it.
