Most Americans say they are struggling financially

Many Americans remain in precarious financial shape even as the economy continues to grow, with 7 of 10 saying they struggling with at least one aspect of financial stability, such as paying bills or saving money.

The findings come from a survey of more than 5,400 Americans from the Financial Health Network, a nonprofit financial services consultancy. The project, which started a year ago, is aimed at assessing people's financial health by asking about debt, savings, bills and wages, among other issues.

Despite solid U.S. economic growth this year, the share of Americans who are struggling financially remains statistically unchanged from a year ago, said Rob Levy, vice president of research and measurement with Financial Health Network.

The study adds to a body of research indicating that millions of American families have trouble making ends meet even a decade after the Great Recession and as unemployment has sunk to its lowest level in decades.

But I thought Trumpy gave everyone a thousand dollar tax cut to spend on a new car or a kitchen remodel?

about himself and is stealing from the taxpayers. He's a vile man, and he just does not care.

He will meet his fate some day, good always wins against evil. Tyrants always pay for their horrendous deeds. We have history on our side.

Donnie says the economy is better now than under any President, ever! And that all Americans are “flush with money”!! Would Donnie lie to us?

It is mostly vulture capitalism now. The bones are going to be picked dry by the buzzards in most cases.

You could say that excessive affluence is an addiction if you put aside your reactionary biases about the wealthy. It seems that, like an other addict to sex or drugs, there is never going to be a point of having enough and the next hit has to be better than the last one, (more intense/increased) in order for it to stimulate the dopamine of the wealthy and jaded.

So, consider that kind of mentality, (generalized of course) having the most power and influence over how a society will thrive and continue? Well, imagine drug addicts having that kind of influence and you get the picture. It will not work out well and there are some historical examples of the wealthy sucking an environment/culture completely dry until it just seemed to disappear. Wanting more and more is an addictive disease and the way things are set up now, our culture caters to that without much in the way of rules or restraints or even proper taxation.

People talk about many threats like terrorism and the devastation of climate change, but I would say that the wealthy of today may not be very beneficial stewards of what they own and control and represent just as much a danger to our collective humanity as those threats. What is most terrifying about that is, at the current rate, the increase of inequity will continue to the point where, globally, they own EVERYTHING and the rest of us will live in a "rented" world or Neo-Serfdom with technological restraints put on us.

Oh, and when the under-educated voters who support Trump tell you that they are getting extra in their paychecks, that may be true, but you might want to inform them about how that represents a corresponding decrease in their return at the end of the year and more taxes may be paid then, as well.

If you look at government stats for percentage of population with incomes less than 125% of poverty, it is lower now. Although, I certainly don't claim where we are a success.

Some years are worse than others, but even in the best of financial times, most Americans are struggling.

I see those damn commercials saying "you need at least a million dollars in order to retire." I scream every time I see those. Who the hell is able to save that kind of money?! I've been working for 27 years and I have a couple thousand! I'm not going to be able to retire!!! I beautifully described through a post here recently about how I expect to die at 90 years old bagging groceries. It was very descriptive. It was also removed cuz it was too kooky or something. Regardless, it is the absolute truth.
