***BREAKING ROGER STONE CONVICTED - ALL 7 COUNTS ****

UPDATE

Roger Stone guilty on all counts in federal trial of lying to Congress, witness tampering

By Rachel Weiner, Spencer S. Hsu and Matt Zapotosky
November 15, 2019 at 11:52 a.m. EST

A federal jury has convicted longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone of lying to Congress and tampering with a witness about his efforts to learn about the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks release of hacked Democratic emails in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The panel of nine women and three men deliberated for less than two days before finding Stone, 67, guilty on all seven counts resulting from his September 2017 testimony to a House intelligence committee investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and the Kremlin’s efforts to damage Trump’s Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton. Stone, in a blue suit, stood at the defense table with his left hand in his pants pocket, watching impassively as verdicts were read.

Stone had argued that he was not intentionally dishonest and that the cases was politically motivated. But jurors sided with prosecutors who said Stone obstructed the House efforts because the truth would be embarrassing to Donald Trump’s campaign. Stone’s indictment was the last brought by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, putting on trial his slippery brand of political brawling and revealing important new details about the Trump campaign’s keen interest in computer files hacked by Russia and made public by WikiLeaks.

He was accused of lying to Congress and tampering with a witness, an associate prosecutors said Stone threatened in a bid to prevent the man from cooperating with lawmakers.Though prosecutors sought to prove only that Stone had lied to Congress, they asserted that his motive for the falsehoods was protecting Trump from embarrassment — and thus made the president and his campaign a key component in their case.

Stone’s trial reenergized discussions of Russian interference in the 2016 election and occurred alongside public hearings in Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into whether the president tried to pressure his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate a potential 2020 opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden. In arguments and testimony over the past two weeks, prosecutors revealed a series of phone calls at critical times in 2016 between Stone, Trump and some of the highest-ranking officials on the Trump campaign — Stephen K. Bannon, Paul Manafort and Rick Gates.

Rump laundered money for the richest most violent and deadly men on earth for 30 years even though Donald Rump does not know what laundering money means.

He is owned by them, completely as he owes them about 3 billion dollars. Stone knows stuff that would make the putin oligarch murderers lose money maybe and remember KUSHNER and the Rumps were INVOLVED in the DISMEMBERMENT of Khashoggi.

Is that even though there's what?, six people either in jail or almost there but dumpf is not in prison or being tried for a felony yet

I think if he was under trial or heading to the big house the pardons would be flying, he is being impeached but that's just for removal right now and this way he can call it all fake news and say it doesn't matter

the moment he gets removed the whole thing changes and he's directly in front of a host of felonys, that's when I think you'll see the pardons.

Although the most serious charge against Mr. Stone carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, his sentence will almost certainly be much lighter. Working against him could be his multiple run-ins earlier this year with Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who is overseeing the case and will preside over sentencing, set for Feb. 6. After a series of infractions, including posting a photo of the judge with an image of cross-hairs next to her head on Instagram in February, she banned him from social media.

If a normal everyday working joe were found guilty, they would have been handcuffed and put in jail to await their sentencing. Just not fair.

Anyhoo, so glad the cretin was found guilty of all charges.

Republicans have been lying to the American public for so long, they've lost all consciousness of when they do it....

Creating your own reality is not a good idea during sworn testimony!.......

EXCLUSIVE: Roger Stone's spiritual adviser says embattled political operative has 'turned to God'

As a former colleague from President Trump’s 2016 campaign delivered damning testimony in the perjury trial of right-wing gadfly Roger Stone, the accused sat quietly at the defense table and did something no one expected: He read the Bible.

The sight of Mr. Stone quietly thumbing through the Good Book contrasted sharply with the outlandish persona of the longtime GOP operative whose profane and vulgar texts dominated the prosecution’s case.

Stone probably has the goods tying Trump to Wikileaks.

Trump already sounds like he's considering a pardon as he talks about unfairness.

Won't be in this news cycle. They're all corrupt so it wouldn't shock me.

The system does work. This could well play into impeachment. This is evidence of Trump campaign collusion with Russia and Wikileaks.

In a society with any sense of what is wrong he would face restitution.
In his case while he is incarcerated that would mean invasive studies
could be done to determine why he did what he did.

And there are possibilities of how to handle a "pardon". I.e., a full pardon or just a commutation of sentence - which is what Shrub did with respect to Scooter Libby - not doing the full pardon and leaving the charges in place, but removing the prison sentence (although Drumpf did eventually do the complete pardon removing the charges against Libby later IIRC ).

Does this not prove once and for all that Trump coordinated through Stone for updates and coordinated leaks against Clinton, from data that was stolen by Rusky hackers, under the direction of Pukin and Trump knew where the data came from all along! And, hence the need to keep it all secret!

Media should be reporting illegal Conspiracy Proven!

Yet they are still in the "Well the Mueller probe really didn't find anything and only suggested that congress pursue obstruction of justice and...blah blah blah" bullshit dismissive remarks (despite the fact that a number of people were indicted and jailed).

Yet THIS was the money case.

Cohen was spun off for other criminal acts associated with the President. Manafort was spun off for his own criminal acts associated with the President. Flynn was spun off for his own criminal acts associated with the President. And minor players Papadopoulos & Gates were low-hanging fruit who were oddly dismissed from the media focus regarding "collusion" (conspiracy).

But for those obsessing over the "technicalities" of Russia and the election - THIS IS IT. Cozy Bear/Fancy Bear/Guccifer2.0 hacked the DNC server (a la the Watergate break-in and theft of DNC files) and gave the emails to Assange and Wikileaks... And Stone (G. Gordon Liddy-style) was directing the operation and was the conduit to/from the President to ensure that info made it out to as many media people as possible, helping to manufacture and amplify a fake narrative and tilt the election.

I mean the guy that was his "intermediary", never actually had any info or connections. He was just BSing Stone. At least that's what Mueller seems to have believed. Otherwise they wouldn't be using the guy as a witness, if they thought he was lying to them. He also, wouldn't have said he didn't find any evidence of coordination.

Stone was going around pretending he had an inside track to wikileaks but wikileaks publicly called him a liar. This lead to his only private Twitter exchange with the wikileaks Twitter page. In it wikileaks chastises him about lying about working with them.

The real story seems to be a bunch of goofy halfwits conning each other to seem more important than they really were.

Now, the Trump campaign did think Stone had real connections but he didn't. That's probably why Trump obstructed so much. He thought they were colluding! As I said elsewhere it was one bumbling conman conning another bumbling conman who in turned was conning the presidential campaign of another bumbling conman. A Trumpian story if ever there was one.
