California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has set the special election date to replace former Democratic Rep. Katie Hill, likely complicating the Republican effort to flip the 25th District.
ewsom set the special election primary for March 3, the same date as the Golden States presidential and congressional primaries. Candidates from both parties run on the same ballot. For the special election, if one candidate garners more than 50 percent of the vote, he or she wins the race outright. If no one gets above 50 percent, the top two would advance to a May 12 election.
The March 3 date was expected but could be bad news for Republicans, because Californians are expecting high Democratic turnout for the contested presidential primary. Hill flipped the longtime Republican 25th District, which is north of Los Angeles, last fall, defeating GOP Rep. Steve Knight by 7 points.
The special election would be for the remainder of Hills term, which runs until January 2021. Voters on March 3 would also hold a primary for the regular two-year term that begins in 2021. The top two vote-getters in that election would face off next November.

(75 posts)I live here in CA25 and I like David Rudnick. I ran into him in Santa Clarita outside Ralph's and he has a ton of great ideas. I like that he wants to setup immigration centers on the border like Ellis Island. I talked to him for 5 min but that alone got my vote. Its about time someone stepped up to the plate with a common sense solution to the immigration crisis rather than jus throwing kids in cages. I hope he wins the Congress race.

(75 posts)I can't stand Brad Sherman. Corporate endorsements mean nothing to me.
I checked out Smith. SoCal could use a real leader like Rudnick.

(75 posts)I jus now found this link on how he was a whistle blower in the Marines and during the Bush admin of all times. It seems like he went through hell. He definitely has my vote now.
And I guess he had a reaction to the vaccines they gave him? This is a military district and I don't know how that will play out tho.
When I met him he was nicely dressed but didnt look well at all. He had a cane and was leaning on it the whole time.
He's also on Twitter saying that he wants to put immigrant centers on the border like Ellis Island. Thats what originally got my attention outside the grocery store. Kids in cages on the border is 1 of the worst things Trump has done.

So, no! I will not vote for Smith unless its against Steve Knight who is bigger oil.
She's also a former Repub not too long ago. Id like to know why left the Repubs?
