What the whole wide world is witness to, right now
Sincere, coherent, and well-informed public servants damning the Trump administration through honest testimony.
Democrats asking rational and intelligent questions, demonstrating gravitas, and, that they are both serious and worried about the breakdown of the rule of law under the Trump administration.
Republicans coming across as deflectors and distractors, ridiculous, profoundly immoral, deceivers and corrupters, only concerned with power and saving the Trump administration.
Cause Russia, Cause Trump Cult
LUDICROUS and the whole wide world is witness to this.
One big take away for me is that the Republicans are demonstrating their complete and utter contempt for the intelligence of the American people. They must literally think they are simpletons if they think they will fall for their complete divergence from truth and reality.
On the plus side there have been enough grownups in the room to reassure the rest of us that there are seemingly not enough Americans who will fall for the republican bollocks this time round and that the rule of law may be on shaky ground but the checks and balances are working, at the moment at least
huzzah.

(4,066 posts)While there have been a good number of people who have awakened to what the rest of us already knew about Trump, there are still far, far too many who are part of his cult.
We have a fight to win in 2020. It will not be an easy one to win.

(48,965 posts)Any redeemable tRump voters are now in the two year period I spoke about of the scales falling off their eyes, this 2018-2020 period (I should have said two 'more' years). It needs to be crystal clear, for all who will see, that tRump is the worst president ever. That means repetitious listing of his crimes and failings and incompetence and immorality. Find whatever point a voter is concerned about and hammer it. tRump generously provides lots of instances to address any point of concern.

(17,884 posts)But you don't have to be a simpleton to be caught up in a cult. It just takes pushing the right buttons and someone who's good at pushing buttons. I'd say, current polling shows a good many Americans are hateful, racist and don't give two shits about anyone but themselves. America has a sociopath problem, and not just the orange one in the oval office. He's merely a symptom.

(9,958 posts)They are both in the mold of Roger Stone, believing that dirty tricks will always win. Stone will now pay for his dirty tricks. I hope Jordan and Nunes pay for theirs in 2020.

(54,302 posts)Nixon still wiped the floor with McGovern in the 1972 election, even though he was out on his ear less than 2 years later. My youthful (age 20 at the time) prediction during the summer of 1972 was that Nixon would be in jail before the end of his second term. That was only stopped by his resignation and subsequent pardon by Ford.
Sometimes, it takes perception some time to catch up with reality.

(10,252 posts)I get so frustrated with him and his stupid conspiracy about Ukraine having meddled, rather than the Russians. He just keeps saying it over and over and over. It's like he's saying gthe earth is flat and the earth revolves around the sun.

To think many will have their opinions about the Orange Menace changed is foolhardy IMHO.

(43 posts)to get rid of the stink.
What are the republicans going to use to get rid of the stink of Trump?
The high minded party that came onto the American scene with the noble words of the Gettysburg address echoing through its consciousness has devolved into a political ecosystem unified by racism and held together with threats.

(17,884 posts)In 2016, Lindsey Graham said nominating IQ45 would destroy their party and they'd deserve it. Of course he meant in the 2016 general election. Turns out his prediction was just about 3 years off.

(3,055 posts)I told my (to that point) rather non-political best friend after his "election" that our Constitution was going to see us through this. He had lied and bullied his way through life, but he wasn't stronger than it. I also told her that when it was all over, our system will again be the envy of the world. We've been through some shaky times because of Republican spinelessness and his flunkies, and of course, the wheels of justice turn slowly. But the skeletons are bursting out of the closet, and they keep coming.
We've come through our allies being shocked. Right now, I think they feel sorry for us, because they know we don't deserve this travesty. But in the long run, our system will win. We all know that the Rethugs in the Senate will never convict him. We've got to make sure the Blue Wave turns into a tsunami next year. We also know he won't leave voluntarily. He'll declare the election "rigged", and refuse to accept the results. The good news is that as of 12:01 PM on 1/20/21 he'll no longer be President, & won't have the authority to do squat. And since he's pretty much pissed off our military (the funding for improvements for my kid's school went where?!), they'll be more than happy to throw his useless ass out of The White House. And we'll all be able to watch it happen while we're dancing in the streets! This'll be better than the moon landing.
Damn...I really wish I had bought popcorn futures in 2016.
