William Barr's Partisan 'Authoritarian' Trump Defense Triggers Calls For His Impeachment

The attorney general drew backlash after calling Democratic “resistance” against the president a dangerous “holy mission.”

The remarks came just hours after the conviction of Trump crony and longtime adviser Roger Stone on seven crimes linked to lying to Congress during its probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Barr appeared to come close to equating Democratic efforts to rein in Trump to a kind of religious terrorism by quoting 18th century Massachusetts Federalist Rep. Fisher Ames. The resistance will use “any mean necessary” to achieve their “holy mission,” Barr said, quoting Ames, adding that “so-called progressives treat politics as their religion.”

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) pointed out to Barr that Democrats have won most of the court cases they’ve brought against Trump, and that several of Trump’s associates have now been convicted of felonies. “So take your revisionist history and shove it,” he tweeted.

No one is mentioning the fact that Barr is involved in Trump's bribery and extortion Ukraine scheme. Maybe that is the real motive behind Barr's speech here. Self preservation?

for Barr to recuse himself from the impeachment inquiry. Too bad we don't have a liberal media to hound Barr about recusing himself.

Barr is clearly only serving the interest of the con man in the White House.

He appears to be knee-deep in the Ukraine corruption. President Trump has told Ukraine officials to contact and deal with Guliani and Barr. Apparently that duo and others are Trump's workaround from normal diplomatic communications between Ukraine and the U.S.

From Barr's unsolicited letter of application for the AG's job to the lies and misinformation, he spread about the Mueller investigation, to his international globe-hopping in search of dirt in defense of Trump Barr has repeatedly demonstrated he is an "Always Trumper" and not a U.S. AG who is the American people's attorney.

He should be removed from office immediately (IMPEACHED) and he should be investigated and charged for his lies and misdeeds in defense of Trump.

Barr KNOWS that Trumpy's reign of terror is temporary, and he knows that Trumpy's replacement will appoint an AG who will be looking at the Trumpy era as packed with criminals, and will deal with prosecutions within the statute of limitations. This should mean to Barr that he's headed for a world of hurt. But it doesn't. Barr apparently wants to live in the "unitary executive moment", where all things are possible with an unrestrained Trumpy as veritable dictator. Barr's complicity and participation in Trumpy's extortion schemes leaves him wide open for RICO and conspiracy charges. He's fucked.

The Evangelicals are all worshipping the Traitor and the orange blob calls himself the chosen one. Yet the Dems are the ones practising politics like a religion?

Barr needs to be impeached for worshipping Traitor Trump's fat a**. He took an oath to the Constitution not to the GOP and whatever crap their filthy rich kings throw at the presidency.

.... Bork was one of the speakers at their first event. He was a newly appointed judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia at the time.

The society was started in 1982 by students at Yale Law School, Harvard Law School, and the University of Chicago Law School. The Federalist Society began as a student organization that challenged what its founding members perceived as the orthodox American liberal ideology found in most law schools. The group's first activity was a three-day symposium titled "A Symposium on Federalism: Legal and Political Ramifications" held at Yale in April 1982. The symposium, which was attended by 200 people, was organized by Steven G. Calabresi, Lee Liberman Otis, and David M. McIntosh. Speakers included Antonin Scalia, Robert Bork, and Theodore Olson.

The GOP is the only political party that melds their actual religion (christian evangelical) and their politics (fascist-conservatism) TOGETHER AS ONE!

Fuck off, Barr, you ass licking, fascist blowhard! Don't ever deign to preach to progressives, you rotten, rotund, repulsive, relic of puritan tribalism. Your sort of religion is fit only for ignorant sheep who want to be lorded over by an authoritarian dictator. We prefer to make up our own minds, thank you very much, so don't believe you ever know what we're thinking or believing.

Barr might have had a mediocre legacy after his stint with the Bush administration, but then - for some idiotic reason - he decided to throw in with the most criminal, detestable, immoral piece of shit to ever steal the office of president. His legacy will forever be buried beneath the slime, crime, and filth that Donald Trump and the rest of his low-life toadies so honestly deserve.
